CUSTOMER REVIEWS
The conditions are not deplorable or dirty but the furniture appears older and rooms are very small. The staff is nice and helpful. The location was right next to Central Park and good restaurants but room was very small, just big enough for the bed and a dresser. I gave the low rating primarily because the remote control for the TV wouldn't work, the toilet would not flush as it was clogged, and then the power short circuited in my room. I called the front desk as soon as I realized the AC unit had powered off and it was resolved within five minutes. If you are looking for a hotel with basic amenities (mini fridge, hair dryer, coffee maker), this is probably not the place you want to stay. I only stayed one night for work and picked the hotel based on location so for my purposes, it was fine. There are other hotels for $200 a night that would most likely be better.
I love the location of this hotel. It was in the middle of everything made the commute shorter. The service was great as well, had a few hiccups nothing to complain about but the staff was on it right away. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because the hotel is out dated. It needs some upgrades and the rooms were smaller than pictured. The only ice machine a d snack machine are in the basement and the stairs to get to the basement are very steep and not safe for anyone with knee or hip issues. Overall the service was great! Just upgrades needed.
The room wasn't deplorable, but it certainly wasn't aesthetically pleasing. Roach traps were visible in the hallways; there are water leak stains in the ceilings/walls. We were charged a security deposit in case we smoked in the room; we do not smoke and days after checking out it was a hassle to get this deposit back. There were not enough towels in the room and we were told that they had run out of towels, so they were unable to provide needed towels let alone extra bedding. The room is suitable to sleep which served its main purpose. The locale is pretty nice and convenient; directly across from Central Park and close enough to Time Square.
The hotel is not as bad as it was described in the old reviews. They probably made some changes there. There were no bed bugs, I checked and the mattress seemed new. The furniture is very old indeed, but the room was clean-ish. I mean it was very clean after the people that were there before us(we didn’t sow any hairs, or stuff like that), but it really needs some deep cleaning. The hotel is pretty cheap for NYC and for the fantastic area! The staff was very, very nice.
I was only looking for a place to stay for just one night & this place was available for around $200 including taxes. Thank goodness it was only for a single night. The room is tiny - if i take just 4 steps, I'd be at the end of the room. The bathroom was tiny as well & the fan was very loud. The toilet did not flush very well - after a #2, you had to flush 3-4 times. The bathtub/shower had issues with the water draining - you would end up taking a shower with half of your feet submerged in water. The A/C seemed to give off a bad odor as well. For the price, you may want to deal with those things for a single night, but I would not recommend it for a longer stay.
