Pho Pasteur

I went to my firat ever Vietnamese restaurant Pho Pasteur back in 2000 and went back there again early Jan 2025 with my sister & aunty. Food: Bun Bo Hue, Broken rice with prok chop & egg and Rare beef Pho - portion was generous and still have that unique flavor. Service: they were really friendly, seated us, and gave us a menu straight away. We didn't wait for a long time for our food either. Restaurant: looking old might need a reno here and there after all. It has been there all this long.

The pho here is superb. This time we fell for the ban xeoh and a crispy tofu on rice with nuoc cham. Salty tossed tofu with marinated shallots on a bed of rice. The crispy prawn pancake stuffed with mung beans prawns, marinated carrots, is a fresh delight. Add the oak leaf lettuce and fresh mint for a taste of rural Vietnam. The tea is hot, slightly bitter, and refreshing. This pho house has been here for some time. And it's still worth a visit.

Waited for 10 mins nobody came to take my order. Staff at counter saw me come in. Ordered grilled beef noodle salad, nothing like picture on menu…. More like beef bacon rolled up with something gelatinous inside. No basil just a miserable stalk of mint. Dressing was watered down. Not authentic at all. Portion was decent though. Coke Zero didn’t come with ice either. Next door is better. Just thought I’d give this one a try. Won’t be back.

The portion here is very good and food is served very quickly after the order. I can tell most of the ingredients were pre-cooked as I can taste the blood is just lukewarm. But the flavour is still nice.

stayed in Syd for 5 days but i came here 3 times. the food and drinks are amazing, huge portions. probably the best bun bo hue and pho in Syd. the taste is very similar when i eat in Vietnam. try their sugarcane also it's refreshing.
