Tsunami Buffet

I don't mind admitting that I am a sushi addict... and that I am extremely picky. A few years ago I found the Tsunami Buffet in Morehead City... and after meeting their authentic Sushi Chef, I was immediately hooked!! Not only is he a skilled artison, but he takes pride in sharing his culture and his talent, displaying the skills in making real sushi. Having been to Japan, I love the variety of Sushi offered at Tsunami, the authentic dipping sauces... and REAL chopsticks... the right way to eat sushi. The buffet itself has well over 100 choices of everything from Sesame Chicken to Pork on a stick, broiled salmon to stuffed mushrooms, Yakisoba to spinach... it's literally incredible!! The salad bar is one of the best stocked, cleanest with one of the widest varieties of items to choose from I have ever seen. And did I mention the desert bar with authentic Oriental treats!! The service is always friendly and efficient, and there is one last treat as one leave after a hearty meal... the wishing pond. I've been to a lot of "Chinese Buffets" in my years... and most often I've been disappointed. But Tsunami Buffet... knocks it out of the part with great food and service. JM

I’ve been here multiple times throughout the years. I think the sushi selection got a lot bigger. Overall the food was good. It’s a Chinese buffet with sushi made on the spot, so the quality and experience is always shifting. Yesterday was good but it wasn’t great that’s why I only gave them 4 stars. The fried rice was a bit undercooked and the crab sushi tasted funny. Everything else was good. The food selection was good they were constantly refilling the stations and you plenty to choose from. The service was great, no dirty dishes on the table and we never had to ask for drink refills. I will come back if I’m in the area and I’m craving Chinese food with some sushi on the side. If you are in the area give them a try, their hibachi is really good too.

Well we arrived tonight to eat here with the family and as we got to our table my son said dad there is a bug on the wall. I said what?? He said look ! Well I looked and we had already ordered our drinks and there was a roach walking on the wall. I said oh no! So I did not make a Scene as the waitress came up With the drinks I said and pointed discreetly there is a roach on the wall. She looked and then went to get another waitress. The both came up and looked and went and got the male manager. He came up And saw it and said something’s in another language. Then he grabbed his shirt near his chest like he was shocked. He went to the front grabbed a big long extended swifter with a paper towel on it and said I will get the spider. I said what. He said I will get the spider. I said hell no that’s not a spider, don’t try that with me. I said it’s a roach. Three other tables saw the roach and was walking out. Don’t go here to eat, if roaches come out like that in the daylight and moving around it’s for a reason…… there is more than you think.

Sweet & Sour Chicken, so crisp & perfectly golden brown on the outside, fluffy white meat cooked to perfection on the inside. The Spring Rolls were crunchy and seasoned just right. The stuffed mushrooms melted in my mouth. Crab Salad can't be beat. Best experience to date!

It seems there are two types of reviews. You either love it or hate it. Sorting by date you see a 5, then a 1, then another set of fives and ones, etc. There were 10 of us and we were seated immediately without a reservation. There were several large parties already seated but they still had one large table empty. As we were sitting down, they took our drink orders. The buffet line is huge. I posted 6 sections below but there are that many more, including a large section where you chose ingredients and they grill them up for you hibachi style. Lots of desserts, veggies and meat dishes. If you can't find something you like, then you are truly hard to please. It is a Buffet, so expect buffet food.
