The family and I went here on a Sunday morning looking for a homestyle breakfast cafe. That is exactly what The Red Hut Café is the staff is friendly and nice. The service and cooks are fast. The food is above average for a homestyle cafe breakfast. We all order breakfast off the menu. We all like our meals. The prices are fair for the area. They also have good specials.
We came here for our breakfast before heading to the next destination, since we had our breakfast in their other nearby outlet - we thought to give this outlet a try. We ordered the following: One Coffee $3.25 Eggs and Bacon $16.50 Eggs and Jalapeño Bacon $17.50 Total: $48.14 (with Tips) The ambiance was a bit different compared to the other one, we thought maybe because it's Monday, thus, fewer people. We thought that their coffee was a bit better than the other outlet. The waiting time was decent, first we were being served with our regular toasts and biscuits then, followed by the main breakfast. Though the biscuits were not really to my liking and the Jalapeño Bacon was too overpowering in flavour - though there was a spicy kick in it, I just didn't expect the too saltiness in it. I wish I could've had the real bits of Jalapeño instead. And the cook was warm, friendly, and open to my recommendation, and will be willing to offer that next time ???? Overall, we were pleased with our meals. Happy that we visited and tried different meals.
Have not been to the Red Hut Waffle Shop since the 1980’s. My wife and I were camping in the area and at the end of our trip stopped by the Red Hut for breakfast. My wife ordered the avocado toast and I the turkey club sandwich. Our food was delivered quickly, tasted great and the service from start to finish was outstanding. Plenty of seating at tables, counter or outside patio. Can’t wait to return again!
This is what I personally look for when I want a classic "Home-Style" Breakfast. The food was delicious, I usually like to try the Chicken & Waffles of any Waffle/Pancake shop and these were on the more delicious end of the spectrum, like a 7.5/10. The portions were quite large which is a plus. My family and I left quite satisfied and we would definitely come again the next time we visit Tahoe.
**Review of Red Hut Café, South Lake Tahoe** The Red Hut Café on Lake Tahoe Boulevard is a charming little diner that offers a quick and satisfying meal just off Highway 50. This tiny, unassuming "hole in the wall" is perfect for a casual breakfast or lunch stop, especially if you're in a hurry but still want something hearty. The café is small and simple—nothing fancy—but its cozy atmosphere and friendly service make it feel welcoming. The typical wait time is just about five minutes, so even when it’s busy, you won’t have to wait long to grab a seat. Service is quick and efficient, making it an excellent spot for travelers or locals on a tight schedule. We tried the veggie omelet with jalapeños, and it hit the spot. The flavors were fresh, and the spice level from the jalapeños added a great kick without being overwhelming. If you like a bit of heat with your breakfast, this is a solid choice. Overall, Red Hut Café is a great find for anyone seeking a no-frills, fast, and flavorful meal. With its convenient location and tasty offerings, it’s a spot we’d happily visit again when in South Lake Tahoe.
