We loved it here! Best meal we had in Lake Tahoe area. I would definitely come back to eat here if we come back. Tacos are authentic. Tripas tacos were crispy and lengua was so soft. All portions were generous. Agua fresca were fresh and delicious. Come here, you won't be disappointed.

Conveniently located near the city center on Emerald Bay Road, the main avenue around the lake, it’s hard to miss with its big red sign inviting drivers to pull over for a bite. The menu is abundant and varied, offering not only tacos but also burritos, quesadillas, birria tacos with soup, and special combo meals. Among the tacos, you can choose hard shell, soft shell, or street tacos, all at reasonable prices with a wide selection of proteins. I went for three street tacos—lengua, pollo asado, and adobada. Each came with a generous portion of meat: the lengua was tender and cut into hearty pieces, the chicken was juicy, and the adobada had a nice crispy texture. The staff also provided plenty of fried onions and a jalapeño on the side, a great extra touch. The salsa bar is well-stocked and clearly labeled from mild to spicy, making it easy to choose. A fountain drink station is also available and works well for a quick refill. Inside, the restaurant is decorated with Mexican-inspired touches, including artwork from Coco and displays showcasing the scenic beauty of Lake Tahoe—a charming blend of food culture and local flavor. Overall, Jalapeño's Taqueria is a solid stop in Tahoe for flavorful Mexican food, generous portions, and a casual, welcoming vibe. Perfect for locals and travelers alike.

I got a super nacho for $15. It was a big plate full. I could only eat half of it. They have a nice salsa bar too. The restroom was clean. I like the outdoor seating options. It's a bit cooler here, than where I'm from. Even in the summer time. It's nice eating under the shade of trees.

Fast service, good food, plenty of free sauces to go with your meal. Bathroom, pretty clean, as long as the toilet and surrounding floor is neat you know your boi will do his duty. Overall, fair prices for good food. The inside is decorative and cozy too.

Best taco place in Tahoe HANDS DOWN. lived here for 2 years and have tried them all. They have anything and everything you could want from a Mexican restaurant. You will not find better flavor! The food is fresh, cooked to order fast, and delicious. And the salsa bar options are amazing. Recommend their Birria, chicken chipotle burrito, and beans & rice! Other favorites are their chorizo (it’s to die for) breakfast burrito or chorizo street tacos and steak torta!
