San Luis Restaurant

We had not planned to go to this restaurant but we ended up there. It isn’t some place I would return to. I ordered the shrimp fajita and I order fajita all the time from Mexican restaurants. This one was probably the worst. It was mostly onions ver little veggies. The shrimp had to be eaten by had the tails were still left on it. Don’t think with a fajita this is correct. So my fajita I made was basically veggies and the shrimp was eaten by hand. The music was very loud. Service wasn’t anything to write home about. Wasn’t told we had to get out check up front we had to ask. Definitely would not return while I am in town. I will seal out a different restaurant.

Although I did not dine in, I found that the service, and atmosphere were great. The lunch specials were affordable and came with a significant portion of food for the cost of a meal. Overall, it is a nice place to eat.

First time at San Luis I. This place is nice and cozy but not as upscale as San Luis II. They brought me a huge basket of chips and some tasty salsa. I was also asked if I wanted spicy salsa which was served in 2 bowls with a spoon. The red was very spicy and the green tomatillo salsa was very tasty. I ordered the Carne asada served with beans and rice. There was also a grilled green pepper(mild) and a grilled onion bulb, avocado salad, pico and an orange wedge. The sweet tea was very good. They also gave me a choice of corn or flour tortillas. There was no way to finish off this food. My dining time was early evening and they would have allowed me to order lunch which is extraordinary. There were many college students there who probably did order the lower priced lunch offerings.

¡Delicioso! Food great, service good and special birthday treatment was perfecto! Atmosphere scored because with great inexpensive food, well priced beer and authentic cultural atmosphere there was a mouthy intoxicated man that was excessively flirty with our server and delaying her.

This is my only recommendation when I am asked about authentic Mexican food. I tell them about San Luis 1 I have loved for decades off Lee St good to know that have a 2nd location I tried and found just as amazing!
