La Playa By the Bay

La Playa restaurant, situated along the beachfront in Corpus Christi, is just a short distance from downtown and the beach. This vibrant and spacious restaurant exudes a cozy and festive atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the booths near the large windows, offering a picturesque view of the bustling cantina bar outside. The menu features authentic Mexican cuisine, and our choice of the chili relleno stuffed with hamburger meat, topped with cheese, was exceptionally tasty. The rice and beans were cooked to perfection, bursting with delicious flavors. My husband savored the chicken, shrimp, and beef fajita tacos, accompanied by rice and beans. The freshly made, generously sized tortillas were a highlight, perfectly complementing the flavorful fillings. Without a doubt, we look forward to returning to dine at La Playa again.

I was traveling with my dogs and needed a place to eat. La Playa has outdoor seating, and they allowed me to dine outside with my dogs. The waitress brought my pups a bowl of water. Excellent service and good food.

Somebody was hammering away on something the whole time we were there. Loudly. The food we ordered tasted great but both entrees arrived barely warm. My wife had the El Yucateo plate, breaded fried eggplant stuffed with shrimp and sauteed pico de gallo and chile con queso. Wifey had borracho beans and rice with her meal. I had the Carne Guisada, tender hunks of beef stewed in a Mexican gravy. I had rice and refried beans and flour tortillas with mine. First time we've eaten in what sounded like a blacksmith shop. Skip this place.

The food is never bad. The stuffed avocado ???? is amazing. The service is always attentive and friendly. Karaoke in Wed and Thurs is so much fun.

May 10,2024 9:30 P.M. went to la playa at night coming back from the carnival.The service was terrible they took forever to bring our drinks and food that's because there was hardly anyone there. The food was disgusting I bring leftovers for my dog but in this case I wouldn't even feed it to my dog.The tortillas look plastic look at the picture you can see what I mean,beans tasted like bean dip, enchiladas tasted soapy,ketchup was watery it looked like it was expired. I wouldn't recommend anyone eating there.The waitress looked like she didn't want to be there she was on her phone the entire time not even checking up on us if we needed anything else. I had to keep calling her to get our attention.I told the waitress I didn't want to pay for my meal since I didn't like the taste of the food.The waitress said she was going to get the manager.The manager didn't even come to our table to see what was the problem with our food.The only good thing about it the manager told the waitress to take it off my receipt and I didn't have to pay.I will never be going to la playa restaurant ever again.Next time I'm going to Kinko's restaurant better food and better service.
