Great Lakes Inn

Counter service very professional and very informative. Easy access, corner of 75 and 23 Great breakfast in large location Rooms very clean and smelled clean. wifi worked great didn't use the pools, but large outside pool and large inside pool hot tubs for both yes its a little older, but compared to other motels in that age range, this was great at a great price. Would recommend and stay there again without hesitation

Service wasn't great. Our door handle was broke and even when it was locked, you could still open it. Also the room wasn't very clean. And when we came back to our room, our door was open. Wasn't happy. They acted like they didn't care about our concerns. When everyone would pull in they would stair constantly. Furniture was not clear and worn out.

Arrived and upon check-in air conditioner was dead in the room. Management said they would take care of it and they did by replacing the unit entirely. Which is nice but keeping us out of our hotel room until it was done. Also apparently the breakfast is like 3 or 4 hotels down street, which be nice to know upon check-in. We chalked it up to a miscommunication due to the fact that the air conditioner didn't work? Not really sure. Just don't expect breakfast there expect it three or four hotels down the street. All of the above were just things that happened. No big deal. But after all that when we go to take a shower we notice the bath mat looks like it was imported from a row home in Dundalk. Management assures me that it's been clean which is great but it's still a dirty bath mat that should be thrown out if it's at your own personal house let alone a freaking hotel. So I brought it to their attention and was told to kick rocks and that there was nothing they could or would do. You rent a hotel in 2023 and I would say it's safe to expect a clean room with a bed, air conditioning and a clean shower and whatever version of "breakfast" if offered. Also maybe tell people the hot tub doesn't work instead of advertising it and cleaning out the mold at the bottom of it. So if you're looking for a place to stay, don't stay at Great Lakes Inn in Mackinaw City. We try to stay at the mom-and-pop locations but this makes things tough. Cheers.

Had a squad in town for the Race the Straits Triathlon. This was a cheaper option with a sizeable room with the two beds. Location was right by downtown Mackinaw so we biked into town conveniently - it’s also right on the trail that cuts through town that you can walk on. The pool was nice ???? The beds were firm, but I got a great night sleep. Service was friendly.

An affordable, modest hotel in a prime location. The staff was very helpful, kind, and clearly know the area well. They helped us get tickets to Mackinac Island, and arranged the shuttle for us as well. The two Queen room was just fine for our small family, and included a microwave, fridge with tiny freezer section, hair dryer, and a very useful iron!!!! Also, I specifically want to say thank you for their efforts to handle the mosquitoes: we never got bit, but each morning they were sweeping up the thousands of dead mosquitoes in front of the rooms, so whatever they are doing is working very well. We also saw the Friday night fireworks just find from our window!
