The Taste of Bay City

My husband chose this place for the puffy tacos and the chips and salsa. Unfortunately none of the food was up to our expectations, although still edible. The chips and salsa was probably the best thing we had. The puffy tacos weren't even crispy, the shredded beef was not flavorful and wet. I had the enchiladas and it honestly reminded me of the freezer meal ones they sell in the store. The side of rice and beans that I ended up ordering extra with the enchilada special for the day, was also lacking in flavor & dry. I was irritated I had paid $4 each for each side due to quality issues. I feel like this place has the opportunity to do better but it just seemed like the cook didn't care and it showed in the food. Our service however was great. Hope they can turn it around for the best.

The tamales are very small and came out luke warm, floating in a thin layer of water in the box. I had to return the enchilada due to a hole being burnt in the side of the box. The only thing that was semi ok were the deep fried Oreos

I came here to try the birria tacos especially. I ordered the weekly special which had 3 birria tacos and beans & rice. The birria tacos were excellent - nice crispy tacos, the beef was tasty and there was both melted mozzarella and queso fresco both which was above average. The consommé was very good as well with plenty of onions & cilantro. The rice and beans were average but the portions were large. My companion has a lot of food restrictions but was able to enjoy the fries along with a white queso. I will be back to try the flaco tacos or more of the birria (they also serve the ramen version which I have yet to try myself but seems to be a popular variation$.

Greasiest chips I've ever gotten, literally oil pooling in the bag. Some chips are even unchewable and I had to spit them out. Really disappointed I drove all the way back to get a new bag of chips and I swear she just threw chips in a new bag that the oil hadn't pooled in yet. Super disappointed with the greasy unchewable chips I can't enjoy with my tacos and cheese dip ???? the rest of their food is decent so they get an extra star but the disappointment over the entire bag of grease with my chips, I don't think I'll ever eat there again.

This was our first time ever eating here. We ordered 10 hard shell tacos on Wednesday night for $1 taco night. These were the worst taco we have ever eaten. The shells were absolutely burnt. I can’t believe they sent these out the door. The picture doesn’t even do it justice for how burnt the shells were. The meat had no flavor and was bone dry. You couldn’t even taste a bit of saltiness. I would love to say I will give them another shot but I have never been so disappointed.
