CUSTOMER REVIEWS
I always drive to Duluth, GA (Koreatown) to get my hair trimmed/cut every few months. Why? I feel that Asian stylists are better at cutting Asian hair...plus, the haircuts are priced more fairly. I mean, for my VERY basic straight trim, it costs up to 80 bucks at a salon in my town. Just not worth it (especially half the time, they can't even cut a straight line!). Anyway, I decided to check out a new Korean salon in Duluth...and this salon stood out, mainly because I'm at this Park Village strip a lot. I didn't get a specific stylist assigned to me during my first phone call to schedule an appointment...but once I entered the salon, I got assigned to Sandy (and another lady washed my hair...didn't get her name?) Unlike other stylists I've had in Duluth, Sandy spoke perfect English (YAY!)...and she actually listened and followed my request. Most importantly, she cut my hair exactly the way I want it...in a straight line all the way across, with no thinning. My previous hair stylist at Miracle Hair in Duluth was really good too, but she could barely speak or understand English. She kept thinning my hair, despite my instructions...and even using straightening iron afterwards, despite me telling her numerous times not to. This was not a problem here...at least with Sandy. At yet another Korean salon (Kara Hair), they were so resistant to speak English, they didn't take phone calls from non-Korean speaking clients...you had to frickin' TEXT to schedule an appointment. That is called rude customer service! Just like at Miracle Hair, the stylist at Kara was very talented too...but I'm just not going to accept their rudeness. I mean, only texting for appointments?!? I actually wrote them a 5-star review on Yelp...and yet, they won't even accept phone calls from me??? (I deleted that review lol!) Never again to that salon. Again, I don't think that's going to be an issue here either. Unlike some pictures I saw of the salon online, the place looked pretty cool in person. The color motif was in red and black, and the style was very edgy/arty...very cool! I think I may be returning to this salon in the future...
I got my hair done by Julie, and let me tell youuu! She is amazing. SHE. KNOWS. WHAT. SHE. IS. DOING. I had a color correction done, and my hair has been dyed all types of colors before, and she left it flawless. The time and quality of her work is perfection. Nothing but great things to say.
I got my hair done by Juno. He was great! He explained everything in detail and told me step by step what he was going to do with my hair. He was very realistic with what he could achieve as far as the hair color I wanted, but everything turned perfectly with very minimal damage. He requires a $25 deposit up front when setting up the appointment, but this should not be a problem since it guarantees you the appointment unlike other salons I've been to. He's busy so make sure to call to set up the appointment in advance.
Got a simple mid-length layered haircut and it was poorly done...The lady who cut my hair was really nice, and I booked a same-day appointment on a busy Saturday so I understand how it could not be the best. However, it is really hard to mess up a simpler layered cut and somehow they did...My layers were uneven and messy. The thing is I had it styled after so didn't fully realize until it was too late. Please check your hair carefully after cutting. I think it was a hit or miss but as someone who only gets a haircut once in a while, this means a lot to me. I don't usually leave bad reviews but don't want anyone else having the same problem.
There is this one male hair stylist named Tae. I went to pika pika and he cut my hair. I explained everything to him in reference to how I want my hair cut. I wanted some length to be taken off and layers. Obviously after cutting hair and adding layers to it, it has to be blended in right? He didn’t blend it in and said it was already blended in. Then we had a 10 minute argument where he was relentlessly claiming that it was already contextualized and blended in. It almost looked like he just got a pair of scissors and cut off the length. I went to scissor hands right after and the hair stylist there immediately said that there was too much weight on my hair, making it look heavy. He immediately understood what was wrong and blended in my layers. If you go to pika pika, do not trust Tae with your hair. You’ll come out looking like a clown ????
