Papa's Backyard BBQ

Was pleasantly surprised by this place. If you blink you missed it. We did, ended up doing a U-turn in the neighborhood behind it. This place is the epitome of a mom and pop shop. Being a Texas Native and having the privilege to visit Franklin’s, Burnt Bean, 2M you name it I’ve tried it. I have really high expectations for bbq. Passing through Louisiana I wanted something off the beaten path. The sides here are delicious and the brisket was really good. Moist and flavorful. The pork ribs for us were a let down. Tough with minimal flavor. Overall if your in the area it’s definitely worth a stop. Support small business and get a great lunch in the process.

We were introduced to Papa's Backyard BBQ by our 2022 Queen of the Day, Kentrell Jones! We had our Queen meet-up there for our 2020 Queen and our 2022 Queen. The brisket was delicious, the service was excellent and the owner was warm and inviting! We will most certainly continue to patron!

Wow!! I’m amazed by this place! I picked up lunch for my coworker & I and we were both extremely impressed & stuffed! I got the Mutt bbq bun with Mac & cheese, I also added a side of potato salad. The sandwich was so delicious & I could eat the Mac and cheese everyday and still not get tired of it. This is hands down the best bbq I’ve eaten in a very long time. I can’t wait to come back and bring my partner.

Holy smokes. I'm in a food coma. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! Just moved to the area from Houston, and haddent found any bbq. This place nails it. Super small, family ran goodness. Needs to.be on dinners, drive ins, and dives. It's so good. Big portions. Good prices. Smells amazing when you walk in. We will be back! From what I gathered it's a veteran owned business. BONUS!!!!

Me and my wife tried this place out a few years ago and thought it was pretty good. I recently came here for lunch and was very disappointed. The brisket was tough and chewy, the ribs were also not very tender, and the cornbread was dry
