CUSTOMER REVIEWS
I really like this place but as most places here you have to get the right servers, cooks or time. The food mostly great but the prices are not what the menu says. My favorite papa rancheras are just a bit of diced potatoes warm but not hot with little sauce thrown over it. It's a shame because I really like this place. Always ask for price because they are not listed only the old price. Please update that.
This was an excellent experience. Mr. Taco is a well run, and we'll organized machine, with excellent food. I did 12 hours straight of motorcycle riding before I plopped into my chair. Before I could say 'Hello' there was a delicious bowl of tasty and crispy chips in front of me and salsa right behind it. I ordered the Chicken Fajitas which were perfect and the homemade tortillas were exactly what I needed. If I ever roll through those parts again I can grantee Mr. Taco will be seeing me again.
We travel thru South Texas often as gate guards for the oil industry and eat a lot of Texas Mex and BBQ...this place has good food and friendly service. If you had a bad experience at this place it is what it is. But we will be back as long as they keep up the good work. Trust me I have seen plenty of crap show restaurants. This is a nice place to eat.
Beware the mole dish. They gave me way too much chile to compensate for the lack of chicken. $14 dollar plate.
My favorite place to eat in Gonzales so far. Mr. Taco is a restaurant that truly does not match it's name. Taco is in the name, but tacos are minor item on the menu. Mr. Taco has a vast menu spanning everything from seafood to burgers to pancakes. There is something for the whole family at Mr. Taco, even if you are not in the mood for Mexican or Tex Mex. If you follow my restaurant reviews, you know I am fan of Mexican Caldo. Just call me the Caldo Connoisseur. The Caldo at Mr. Taco is on point. While Gorditas Mexico (Galveston) still weasr the crown as far as the best caldo in Texas, Mr. Taco is right up there with them. Everything else I have eaten at Mr. Taco has been great and the prices are easy on the wallet. And then there is the Chips. You might be wonder how carn chips can be different. Why they are at Mr. Taco. Unlike every other Mexican restaurant in Texas, Mr. Taco serve Puffed Corn chips. How they get their corn chips to puff up like they do, I do not know. What I do not is I will go there just to eat the chips. They are that good. If all this was not enough, Mr. Taco throws another gem in the mix with a Mariachi ban that performs live and takes request on Friday evenings. It is a ton of fun and the guy are talented and play and sing their hearts out. Remember to give them a nice tip if you are there when they perform. The Bottom Line: Try out Mr. Taco if you are in Gonzales, Texas. Just do it!
