I ordered a shrimp poboy. The staff was nice. The Po-Boy was put together well and the bread was really fresh. After a few bites, I noticed I wasn’t tasting much shrimp and decided to dig a little. There’s a VERY thick batter on the shrimp and it’s pieces of shrimp being fried, not whole shrimp. Disappointing…. I doubt if I return, but if I do I won’t be ordering the shrimp poboy again.
Food is fresh including the bread, I lean toward the poboy and have yet to be disappointed. I have also had salads from them and fried rice from time to time, both are very good. It’s a one ‘man’ show at the register which can be a little slow when they are busy as she also handles the phone in orders, refills…so don’t be in a rush. The dining area is a no frills cafeteria style seating, simple, clean and showing some age. Getting in and out of parking lot is easy and most of the time space available.
So 20 years ago, this place made the best roast beef Poboy with the gravy. I returned to this town for a visit and decided I wanted another one of those. I was very disappointed to say the least. The roast beef itself was not seasoned very well. There was mayonnaise only on one side of the bun. And it was not cut in half like it used to be. I guess nothing stays the same, even if it has the same name. I did not eat the entire sandwich because it was gross. A gentleman had asked me if their roast beef was good while I was in there and I said yes. I wish I knew his name and could tell him I was wrong.
I stopped here for lunch today and ordered the Fried Chicken Strip Po'boy. Po'boy comes fully dressed with tomato, mayo, and pickles. You have the option to omit the ingredients to your liking. Bread was ok. Chicken strips were juicy and had flavor. I really enjoy it! They also have Chinese food such as egg rolls and fried rice. I usually come here for the sandwich though. Perhaps on the next visit, I'll try something different.
Just driving through pulled up the search for good Roast beef Po'boy, they also have a big selection of Chinese foods. I got a sm chicken fried rice, very good. The sandwich, eh, not as good as I remember them when I lived in Metairie. The juice was good. But the meat didn't have that deep roast beef being cooked down. I ate it, but looks like I'll have to make another trip on day.
