Our visits to La Jaivita Restaurant have been an interesting journey, driven by the intriguing stories my wife shared about her sister's past employment there. While it might not be my first choice for dining alone, as taste preferences vary, I've had the pleasure of experiencing this restaurant on multiple occasions, and each visit has been a testament to its culinary appeal. Undoubtedly, La Jaivita Restaurant boasts an exceptional menu. The food here is truly remarkable, although I should confess that it caters more to my wife's palate. She often raves about the fish and shrimp soup, a dish that holds a special place in her culinary heart. While seafood, especially fish and shrimp, is not typically my preferred choice, I did decide to venture into uncharted territory by ordering the Catfish, a personal favorite. It's a testament to the versatility of La Jaivita that it can cater to a range of tastes, from seafood aficionados to those like me with more specific preferences. During our visit, we had the pleasure of dealing with a single, yet exceptionally friendly staff member who enhanced our dining experience. Her amiable disposition added a personal touch to our meal, making us feel welcome and valued. The atmosphere at La Jaivita Restaurant is another noteworthy aspect of our experiences. The music playing in the background not only set a pleasant mood but also transported us to a different cultural dimension, adding to the authenticity of the experience. In summary, our visits to La Jaivita Restaurant have been characterized by unique and memorable culinary experiences. While the restaurant's specialty, fish and shrimp dishes, may not be my personal preference, the establishment's adaptability and commitment to excellence are evident. The warmth of the staff, combined with the captivating ambiance, contributed to an overall wonderful dining experience. La Jaivita Restaurant comes highly recommended, especially for seafood enthusiasts, and I am sure we will continue to explore the diverse menu offerings on future visits.
Fresh food and cold micheladas! We visited this place along with some friends, in the past I've had the Bomba soup and it's pretty good. The only down side is that it took quite a long time for the to bring out the food and even the drinks. According to my friends the food was just ordinary, not bad but nothing extraordinary.
Honestly I wish I couldn't recommend this place. It has to be the best place I have eaten in all year. I don't want to share it with anybody. The service is amazing, the food is amazing, SO DON'T COME HERE. It is such a small place that I am afraid it can easily become overwhelmed with customers.
This place is a very small restaurant on the corner of 17th Street. I give it a 3 ???? due to the fact that it is very small restaurant and not to mention the waitresses stay busy and ignore you. They do not attend to their tables properly. The only time we got to see our waitress or spoke to her was when we placed our food and drink order. They earned the ???? because the food is deliciously made. They do give you enough food on the plate for the amount you pay on some of their dishes. But I notice that some of the customers that order the exact same shrimp cocktail received more shrimp than what we received. Not sure why.?? Other than that if your looking for a good shrimp cocktail or fish plate this is a decent place to get it.
I had the mix empanadas (quesadillas) and they were ok, nice and crispy, ask for the sauce on the side... If not they'll get soggy. My husband had the tacos plate, more like taquitos, they were really small, he said the flavor was not all that. But the place is dirty,, I took a picture of the dirty blinds. It was disgusting.
