Horseshoe Crab Island

You can paddle out here from parish Park, boat, ramp, or Sandpoint Park. It’s a big lovely island with a bit of a sandbar poking out that you can walk out on. Found this island and I will definitely come back.

We camped on the island the weekend before the 4th of July. Had a blast. Played in the bioluminescent water. And a couple got married on the sand bar at 11pm. Beautiful island . Fishing not so good but the kids had a great time.

We paddled out to watch the sunset, and the Super Snow Moon rise. We cooked out backpacking style in the moonlight, then had a pleasant paddle back to the causeway. Others were camping out for the night. There were so many no-see-ums and mosquitoes, but we came prepared! It was a memorable evening.

Arrived by kayak from the causeway. A nice little island but of course somewhat ruined by people leaving garbage around.

The best part about the indian river lagoon is that Manatees will come up right around your boat and dophins will swim with the boat and around the boat. Awesome day!!!
