This hotel needs to be reported... we called for a last minute place to stay at about 8:30pm and when we arrived they were just cleaning the room they were giving us. When we walked in the room, it smelled so heavily of animal urine and other funky smells that it made me sick to my stomach. The room was barely cleaned and we were worried the bedding had already been used. The attendants seemed like they were on some sort of drugs, quite assumable that they were using meth, for quite obvious reasons. They didn't even hesitate when we requested a refund, which tells us that this is a frequent occurrence for them, as purchasing the room seemed harder for the lady than processing the refund of $120, which seemed very easy for her. She asked about 5 times what the room smelled like and each time asked if we wanted another room... When we were refunding the room, the guy said "a place to stay is a place to stay..." I could go on about how sketchy this place seemed but overall it was no where that anyone should stay unless they absolutely NEED a place to stay, even then, I'd recommend literally anywhere else. This place needs to be reported and closed down, in my opinion. After arriving at another place for the night, the attendant there knew all too well about Groveland Motel and how awful it is. He told us that he had even heard reports of bed bugs, which is not surprising at all. Please do not stay here.
This is a great location about an hour away from Yosemite Valley which is why we picked it. We just needed a place to rest our heads for a couple hours and this accomplished that. However the condition of the rooms themselves were pretty terrible. I found several stains, hairs etc in the bedding. The door to our room did not fully seal so there was a draft coming through and the bathrooms were bare minimum but usable. It served the purpose of an affordable and quick stay but I don't think I'd elect to do it again.
We had to make an emergency trip back to Yosemite and were happy to find a room at Groveland Motel. The front desk staff member was very accommodating and waited up for us until we arrived at 11:30 pm. The room was simple and clean, but the shower had amazing water pressure - I don't think it was a water saving shower head. Good value for money.
The bed was like sleeping on the ground, actually the ground would have been more comfortable. There was no hot water at all, had to clean up with a washcloth and cold water. The ceiling was falling in and there were spiders everywhere. I wasn't comfortable leaving our mountain bikes in the room. If you want to rough it your better off pitching a tent in the middle of nowhere, if you don't definitely don't stay here.
It wasn't worth the $145.00 I paid for 1 night. No electric in bathroom. Only 1 plug 3 ft from the 1 bed and nothing near bed 2. No place to set a suitcase and no place to set toiletries in the bathroom or a towel bar. You have to lay the hand towel on the very small pedestal sink.
