Don's Auto Repair

Don and his staff first and foremost treat you with respect and give you straight answers. I had gone to a different shop for an inspection and they had found something wrong. That other shop quoted me $1700 for the repair they claimed I needed, and after some brief research, it was clear they were trying to rip me off. After a brief call with Don, he gave me an idea of what may truly need to be done, and I brought my car over to the shop. In short, Don's shop replaced the parts in question, updated some more of my maintenance requests, swapped my battery as it was time to do so, and finished my state inspection all for hundreds less than the other shop quoted me. I trust that they gave me a fair rate on their services. I will be taking my vehicles here as long as I live in Philadelphia.

I love Don’s. Don, his wife, and staff are always friendly and I trust them implicitly. A few months ago I noticed I had a flat and it was about 45min before they were due to close. No hesitation from Don, bring it on over! I still made my dinner reservation with family they fixed me up so quick!

It pains me to say this, but after being a customer of Don's for several years (nearly 10), I can no longer recommend his shop or services. This is after multiple experiences over the past few years where I have experienced him as someone who, while good with basic stuff (oil changes, inspections, basic maintenance, etc.), he also simply can't be bothered to diagnose any kinds of problems that are more complex and will basically throw up his hands and say he doesn't know how to help you. He's also not a great listener and doesn't take the time to adequately understand the car issue you are coming to him with. He's always in a rush and won't take the time to listen to you and truly understand the problem. I went in to his shop a few months ago for my annual inspection. He said he couldn't do the inspection because the battery appeared to have been recently disconnected and then reconnected (it had been in a body shop after a minor accident several weeks prior). He told me the car needed to be driven more to reset the computer. When I asked how many miles he replied "At least 100". When I told him I had driven it hundreds of miles since picking it up from the body shop, he simply said, "Drive it more and come back". About 5 weeks later (and hundreds more miles, including highway miles) I returned and he told me it still wasn't ready. He again told me "Drive it more and come back." When I re-explained the situation and past visit (for which he had already charged me for the inspection), he said he didn't know and that "every car is different." I left his shop and went to a Midas location on Ridge who explained to me exactly what to do, how to drive it, etc. They also told me specifically which part needed to be reset and what they could do if more driving did not resolve the problem. When I had asked Don this he said he simply did not know and that it could literally take months to reset, that he wasn't sure. He refused to give me back the money for the inspection even though he fully acknowledged to me and my wife he didn't know how to resolve the problem. Don is a nice guy, but if have an older car or any kinds of issues that require more complex knowledge and diagnostic process, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

I was recommended this place from a friend! I went in for an oil change and tire rotation and ended up needing new tires! Don was very helpful & gave me a GREAT price for 4 new tires! I will definitely be going back for any car maintenance needs and recommending it to others!

We realized last minute that we needed an oil change, and Don's was a great place for it. We got a next day appointment, it didn't take long, it was a good price, and they even found a nail in our tire and fixed it for us for a good price. All in all would recommend!
