Country Ham Restaurant

Hannah, our waitress, (and the cook) were both very friendly and exceptionally helpful in dealing with my husband's allergy issues! There was an all-you-can eat fish option but my husband and I both chose the dinner that came with four pieces of fish, salad, baked potato, cole slaw and hush puppies for a very reasonable - under $7 - price. We were initially disappointed that the restaurant had run out of country ham, but later agreed their fish was excellent and that we wouldn't have known this if the country ham had been available.

Country Ham is a hidden gem in Owensboro. There is nowhere else in Owensboro where you can get some fried green 'maters and a delicious catfish dinner. Let alone at the price they charge. Friendly staff and excellent service. If you ain't had Country Ham Restaurant...well...you ain't country.

Simple food, but they get it right. Clean and friendly. It's rare to find a place that actually uses red ripe tomatoes on sandwiches instead of the barely pink tasteless water flavored tomatoes. This alone gets the 5 stars.

I absolutely loved this place. They had Chicken and Dumplings as a special, we also got fried okra and cabbage. Everything fresh homemade. The okra right out of the garden and hand breaded. They also have fresh out of the garden fried green tomatoes. The best food I've eaten in a diner in a long time.

From Michigan visiting family, my sister-in-law mentioned Country Ham Restaurant so I said lets try it out. I ordered clam chowder and fish dinner, clam chowder was luke warm and had virtually no clams, should have been called potato soup, fish on the other hand was hot and very delicious. Our waitress was very pleasant. Would I come back again? Sure.
