The City Park is Reading's "central park" I haven't been there in over twenty years. I stopped by on Thursday March 10 to take some pictures for Google. I saw one dog walker and a family of ducks in the pond over by the bandshell. Obviously the park will be crowded in the coming warmer months. There's really nothing there for me to having me come back to City Park. When I used to volunteer for the Arts Council they would have a summer concert series but I never signed up to volunteer at them.

A quaint little park with lots of statues of colonizers. It's clean. Not a lot to do but walk through. They have an amphitheater. Now they have a hot dog stand there which is cool. I'm new to the area and have yet to see an event there.

It really warms my Heart that this Park is still here! I used to play here when I was a Small Child growing up. I remember there was a Castle Play Area. Then unfortunately disgusting Individuals would actually Pee in the Castle. And it always smelled like Urine. They finally tore it down and rebuilt that area. Now they have expanded the Play Area for Smaller Age Children. Also put in Sprinklers for Children and their Families on those unbearable Hot Days. I take my Autistic Teen there. He loves to play in the area for Smaller Children. Sometimes I take him to the Sprinkler Area. City Park is more enjoyable now for Inner City Families. I would love to see Wooden Picnic Benches placed sporadically under Tree areas. With Large Trash Bins. This way Families cut sit under the Shade. Instead of on Towels or Blankets on the Hard Ground. I also on Saturday Nights have Family Movie Nights Free. By putting a Large Projector Screen at the Bandshell Area where the Water is. This way Families could bring their Folding Chairs and watch Free Movies with their Children. We really need to bring Happiness and Joy back to our Community. There is so much Crime from Gang Violence and Drugs in Reading. That many Born and Raised Berks Countians don't find Joy anymore or Safety in the Reading Area. It would be nice to give us Taxpaying Homeowners an opportunity to enjoy our Community more. Since we pay School Taxes, Homeowner Taxes, Municipal Taxes that fund so many things in our City. Yet we can't find Joy, Peace, or Happiness. Largely due to the actions of those who do not share the same Respect for our Community. Or the People who were born here. Whose Generations of Families contributed and made the City at One Time a prosperous place to be proud of. Reading has now basically become a Living Nightmare. Penn Street is now littered with Miscreants. The Sovereign Center and New Hotel is about the only thing Reading has going for it. Even Vanity Fair is gone. Which many Families in Reading loved Christmas Shopping there. So it's really nice that City Park is looking nice again. However it could be better. And One Day I believe it will be.
