We came here with a few friends to determine if the location was suitable for their upcoming wedding. The building is an inconspicuous brick slab between the main road and a side road, surrounded by ample parking. Inside, you will find the standard VFW fare; wood paneling, pool tables, lots of patriotic memorabilia, and good company. We sat near the back of the bar, ordered a few drinks, and actually enjoyed the relaxed, quiet atmosphere during otherwise tense elections. The beer was good (and there was a decent selection - we were happy to see Lucette offered, a local favorite). Free popcorn is always a bonus as well. Overall, it was decided that the bar really didn't work as a wedding venue, but it was still a friendly and warm place to spend an evening.
Friday night Fish Fry was the best! This was the only time I’ve been there. Extremely busy, even at 5pm, so plan to wait in line for awhile to get your plate! Seems like a big tradition for a lot of SSP families. Full bar, table service (for drinks), pull tabs, meat raffle, etc.
What a great time! During Kaposia Days we went to the parking lot dance, Uncle Chunk played, everyone was having a ball. We hung out in the bar after, the service was quick and friendly, the drinks were cheap and well poured.
Understaffed for events. Talked to waitress was told they stopped taking orders until they got caught up. Never was able to get served. Live music was good. If you want beverages get 2 times what you want .
I really enjoy the vfw. They offer karaoke nights, live music bands of all types on weekends. They always have a few summer outside bands room to dance, food stands and great people from the old school area, to todays generation...there burgers are excellent. I really feel confortable when ever I go there. Its a huge place. Plenty of parking clean bathrooms. Two bars and a couple of pool tables, pull tabs too..
