Nice course! Greens are slower than average. Many nice elevated holes. Very hilly course. This course has a more “northern” feel to it. There are many ponds/marsh and swamps in and around it. I really enjoyed this course. Great scenery!
Here is what I’ll say: this course could be in better shape. Much much better shape. But if you are a local and you want to play a casual quick round of 9 on an evening without bumper to bumper downstate tourists in front of and behind you—this is your course. We’ve golf it a few times on Saturday evening and had the place nearly to ourselves and it was great. So it’s a mixed bag. I would give it a 3.5 just for that reason.
I used to play this course quite a bit 20 years ago and it was in great shape and gradually it got worse and I heard it changed hands and was getting better. It has, and I would have given them a better rating but there were other issues. I have an UP North Live golf card. You are to only pay cart fees. Before I made the reservation I was told it was $25. I get there and it's $30 and they charged a $5 greens fee. Which is not supposed to happen. In turn we play 9 holes and we run into multiple groups on the back 9 starting at 10. Luckily a few of the groups let us go through. I was informed it was 2 leagues. It's not enough to have a well kept golf course. You still need to run it properly and be truthful about costs.
SKIP THIS COURSE! Decent enough course but the management is horrible. Terribly under staffed. Inexperienced staff let us go out to play with lightening thunder and torrential rainstorms showing lack of care for customers. Out of stock on many items from lunch items to other lunch time items. Very disappointing. Slow play, no beer cart, no course ranger.
Great place to golf. We do a last game of the year tournament here and it's always a fun course.
