Merrill's BBQ

The store is awesome looking and service was great, we selected this place while traveling on our spring break road trip from Jacksonville Florida, and it was a 2.5 hour wait. I got the rib plate 3 sides baked beams awesome , slaw great , corn bread good. All 3 sauces was good. Fried potatoes good , corn on cob ok, Ribs wasn’t that good to me, they was cooked in the oven not on a smoker or bbq grill and texture was tough and chewy. My wife had bbq sandwich she enjoyed it with pickles and slaw. I love trying ribs all over the south and in Florida it’s a big standard to BBQ ribs. I’d not recommend the ribs at all here. Sweat tea was also Great. Prices are good also.

We ate in the little dining area and because it was a cloudy day the sun couldn't heat it up and the heaters were on but they couldn't warm it up. Because of the wonderful polish dog being so messy we couldn't eat in the car so it wasn't our normal good experience but we will certainly go.back because they have the best burger in Gadsden

The quality and price are impressive. You can taste the love and pride in the food. I have never loved turnip greens more than this place. Perfect nothing to salty and a nice kick of heat beyond all the great flavor.

I think they've been there since 1974. Although I grew up in Attalla, somehow I'd never stopped in here until this visit. The BBQ sandwich was good, but nothing special. It took about 20 minutes to get our food after ordering (which means they don't prepare it until you order it, that's a good thing), so I was surprised that the sandwich and fries were both cold. The peach cobbler was also kind of cold, but even worse it was so dry I couldn't finish it. Their sweet tea was really, really good! I doubt I'll go back.

The food was good, the problem we had was it was a call in and they were getting ready to close, when we got home and ready to eat the order was wrong. Half of what we ordered for the adults was not there. We have a picky grandchild the only part of her kids meal we got was the drink. I guess we got the drink and the price which was lower than we were told it was going to be was the reward for the order being wrong.
