Mendez Cafe

This place is a gem hidden in plain sight. Do NOT pass by this place without stopping to eat. The food was fantastic— I got the Combo Plate (pictured)(2 tacos, 2 enchiladas, rice, and beans) and their chips, salsa, and bean dip (which came with the meal) were delicious! ALL the food was incredibly fresh (even the chips were warm and perfectly crispy/oily). 10/10 I recommend this place to everyone.

Yummmmm! Dined in for lunch on a weekday in May 2023. Wonderful food. Perfect for the blue collar crowd and anyone that needs to get in and out in less than an hour and get back to work. We were seated immediately and given chips and salsa. Our orders were taken correctly and delivered within 8 minutes. Waitress was friendly. Parking lot was level, gravel and near the AFB and a 5 min drive from downtown. Not overly crowded. Would definitely eat here again.

Breakfast was good, would have been better if butter & salsa weren't so cold. Then I look up at window & see so many flies stuck to pieces of tape. Yuk. I had planned to return & try the Catfish plate, but the bathroom was so nasty....

I ordered the catfish, it was overcooked and too much cornmeal was used for the batter. The fries were ok, but the catfish left a lot to be desired.

Good basic food place. Nothing crazy on the menu, but I like everything I've had. Good burgers too. I still like Steak Express burgers the best since they're flame grilled, but for a stove cooked burger it's one of the better ones. Get avocado on it.
