Celebrated a friends birthday here. They were able to accommodate 6 when we called same day. Although the menu is prix fixe and includes meat, they were willing and able to provide a vegan option out in addition for 2 people in our party. The atmosphere… wow. My friend who arrived before me just texted the group chat “this place is wild.” And it is, in the best way!! Amazing place to celebrate a birthday. I won’t ruin the surprise and tell you why. The food- particularly the marinaded veggies and chicken- was out of this world. Cash only - BYOB. Can’t wait for an occasion to return.
Beautiful experience. Very cool. I would recommend everyone to come at least one. A very small hole in the wall restaurant in a little neighborhood. You have to ring the doorbell to be let in. The interior completely transform you. You're not even in Philly anymore. The vibes are so cool. You get a towel to put on your lap and stay clean. You get rose water to wash your hands before you consume food. The menu is preset so you don't have to pick and choose what you're not familiar with. There's a large of variety of foods that will be presented. All of them were very cool to try. Wouldn't say it's my favorite. Definitely not use to the flavors. But I think it's just my palette. Very fun night tho! Great experience ????
This place had a great atmosphere and food, but the meat portions were small and you could not pay with card. They said the card machine was down, but other reviewers said the same thing so I think they are just lying about the card machine. Additionally, they automatically include an 18% top that is non-negotiable. Aside from these things, the place is well decorated. It’s like traveling to Morocco. The food was flavorful and delicious. First entree was cucumber salad, carrots and eggplant. Second dish was filo, egg, almond, sugar and cinnamon (this was delicious). Third dish was a ½ chicken (to split between 2 people). Fourth dish was lamb (very small portion). Fifth dish was couscous. Sixth dish was fruit. Seventh dish was mint tea and 1 slice of baklava. Overall it was a cute place, but I didn’t like them forcing you to pay with cash and adding an automatic tip. Fyi the drinks were super cheap and it’s BYOB. $35 pp for the meal.
This is a must visit when in Philadelphia. A great experience and delicious food. The restaurant offers a seven course dinner (make it eight when you include the tea and fruits at the end) The seven courses include 1-3)three salads (one of them is cooked eggplant), 4) sugar eggs and chicken 5) lemon chicken with spicy sauce 6) lamb with honey 7) couscous with chicken, raisins and chickpeas. And at the end 8) fruit plater (apple, oranges, strawberries) and tea The price is right and do note that 18% service fee is added to the bill. Enjoy..
This was my first time dining here. The food was flavorful and plentiful, and everyone in my party enjoyed it. My favorite courses were the lemon chicken and pastilla. The lighting was moody and the lanterns and decor made me reminisce on my trips to Morocco. It is a very small restaurant so it's tight in there, which some people may not like but I found it lent a cozy feel to it. I will say, I felt they could have been more attentive with refilling our waters and I did not like that you have to wait for someone to unlock the door before leaving. I assume it is for safety reasons but it was little unusual to see in a restaurant. Overall though, I enjoyed the meal and I would likely go back.
