Food, best malasadas on Big Island in my opinion. I have tried many over the last 17 years and always come back here. Love the lo hing sugar plain malasada or the haupia filled ones. Service, always a smile as they are working double time in their small food truck. Atmosphere, well it is located on the side of the road in a dry area of the island. So, expect a little dust and if it is in middle of the day might be warm, but to me that is part of what makes the experience great. So, whether we are just driving by on our way to Kona area or coming/going to Beach 69 this place calls me and I love to answer. Enjoy.
I've been seeing this place every trip and just never stopped, so this year on our trip to the Big Island I made sure to plan a stop at Manuela Malasada Co. It's located at the turn off to Puako, a bright blue food truck. The malasadas are made fresh. Just choose your amount, sugar type and filling--then wait for your taste of heaven. I will say that the wait will be a warm one with little shade. But worth it. Very, very worth it! I highly recommend that if you are spending any time on that side of the island that you do not miss these amazing treats
These Malasadas are absolutely delicious! They are cooked fresh and are served warm. We got six with two stuffed - one with Bavarian cream and the other with raspberry. The staff were also super kind. Would definitely come again! Thank you!
You can't _not_ stop by Malasadas while driving around the island. We stopped in the afternoon and managed to get there before a larger rush of other customers. Wait time for us was not too long after ordering. We selected the sugar, powdered sugar, and cinnamon options with no filling. I can certainly recommend all were great choices. They were also much larger than I expected - approximately the size of a baseball. So you'll likely have some to take back on the road with you.
Me an my wife pulled up on this hidden gem while vacationing in hawaii we was heading to visit some historic beaches until we seen cars pulling over in a rest area on the side of the road where this business was located , I ordered the 3 for $16 malasadas filled with creme brulee , an topped with cinnamon an powdered sugar . An after waiting only about 5 minutes I received them an bitting in to them I was speechless with the fluffyness an amazing flavor, it's definitely a 10/10 for me
