A group of us went to the restaurant by referral. Driving up, it's beautiful, sits back a little so when you drive up when the sun is down and the lights are on. When you entered, the hostess was friendly, and she even opened the door when she noticed you. The service started out a little rough bc the server wasn't very attentive and was kind of rushed, but it got better as the night went on. We even thought about asking for another server, but he got it right. The food was delicious. The shrimp were large and juicy. Flavored to perfection. ???? The ambiance is very nice and the decor is pleasant. It has a romantic vibe, yet it's a great atmosphere for friends and family. There was one guy who took a few pictures for us that were extremely friendly. He could have been a manager because he also came to check on us to make sure everything was good.
Everything about this restaurant was great. The Mallard was a very unique class look feeling. The staff and greeter with was very nice. Our waiter was awesome, the staff also worked as a team in bringing and cleaning up our food. The food was fresh and awesome. Great atmosphere with really nice people.
I was still thinking about the food the next day. Filet was tender. Mashed potatoes, well seasoned, maybe overly so. The cucumber tomato salad surprised me. I was expecting to taste zucchini. My salad was a Queen of Hearts. Crispy with vinegrette, maybe raspberry. Loved it. And the bread pudding...I preferred the crispy parts. The beginning of the evening was a bit off. We were offered seats in the bar instead of their asking our preference. And when I ordered my steak medium, the server questioned me, telling me "it's pink." I flatly repeated, "I want medium." She returned and apologized because my mouth didn't say it, but my face did: this ain't my first damned steak.
this place is not what it used to be and it saddens me. my best friend had her reception here; the food and drinks were great THEN. i went there recently with my mom just to have drinks and an appetizer, it was disappointing. the duck tenders i got were great (just needed a little more sauce). the drink i got which was ‘the relaxer’ was not at all relaxing. it was basically juice :/. i am very disappointed i spent $10 on a drink that barely has any alcohol in it. i also had 3 different servers, i was confused on who to call for what. i will stick with Tortilla Soup from now on
The menu is very limited but we enjoyed the coziness of this place. Dinner by candlelight and a live band was peaceful. We ordered 2 catfish plates and I was pleased with the amount of fish we each received. Enough to get full. Oh and the duck tenders are delicious. It was my first time having duck. I would definitely go there again.
