Jabo's Coal River Grille

Great Pizza. Our table had several items from the menu and they all looked great. Fast service for a Saturday afternoon and we had a large group. Employees were very helpful and courteous. Look forward to our next visit.

The other night we decided to eat here. There were two large tables, around ten people each, and the rest of the restaurant was empty. This should have been our first warning sign. After ordering our drinks we asked for an appetizer - potato wedges that come with cheese and bacon. A simple order that should not have taken long to fill. Fourty-five minutes with no drink refills, or contact with our waitress pass. Our waitress apologizes, disappears, then promptly brings our appetizer. I believe it had been microwaved... Later, we receive our food: a sizable, grey, fat covered steak served with dry rice, and pasta with congealed sauce and cold shrimp. I tried some of my steak and she ate some pasta. After a few bites we decided Wendy's would be where we ate that night.

Steaks are great. Sides are ok. Appetizers are laughable at the amount you get, mainly the sampler. Burgers are top notch. The amount of time you have to wait on food is ridiculous. It's a mixed bag. If they improve the service time and appetizers it might be a five star. I recall one time I ordered burgers to go by phone and fries, they told me it would be 45 minutes. I showed up 45 minutes later and had to wait another 40 minutes. Burgers was hot and great but that showed me they didn't even start them until after I showed up.

Good food, good service. Waitress was promoted and attentive. Food was quick and hot. I had pork chops, my husband had meatloaf and our daughter had chicken strips. Everything got 2 thumbs up.

I was promptly seated, nice looking place. But the staff walked by, never greeted me or even offered water. Two elderly gentlemen were seated one table away from me. Water was brought to them immediately and a waitress followed quickly to take their orders. I waited until she finished, thinking i was next, but she walked right by. No eye contact. I finally told the host i was leaving because no one waited on me. He seemed surprised, but i didn't wait for his response. i am from out of town. I have never been to this town before. If I return, i most certainly will not grace their doors ever again. Too bad. It looked so promising for a little town.
