Hing Long Supermarket

I wouldn't recommend going in here if you want to be treated kindly. If you don't speak chinese they will actively ignore you. I kindly asked for help to find a product from 3 employees. They literally ignored me. Starred at the stocking shelves or their counter. Even a "I don't speak English", or a sime shrug, would be fine as I don't speak most languages, but complete and utter ignoring until my only option was to slink away like a diseased cretan is shameful. I just don't want others to waste their time if they need assistance as a customer.

Generations of my family have shopped here. This little shop was my great-grandmothers favorite store in Sacramento. So its a mixed bag. I've had numerous experiences in store that were uneventful, even pleasant and some that made me rethink my patronage. At the end of the day the items I want are there and the location is convenient. The hot food and produce are good. Don't be put off by stop in; it's a cute place.

Good prices but rude service.

I love to cook and this store is a block away from my house. I rarely go here though unless I need something for an Asian or Indian food dish. They have a huge selection of sauces that can be really useful and some decent Asian produce. They also have meat and fish but I personally don't really trust the quality of it because of the smell in that part of the store. And if you expect to be greeted pleasantly or even acknowledged you are in the wrong place! But that could be a cultural thing, I don't know. Otherwise, the prices on things like coconut milk and curry paste can't be beat.

Small, but got most of what you need from an Asian market. They are cash only, so keep that in mind. They have the best Chinese roast duck, roast pork, and barbecue pork in Sacramento. Much better than the places in South Sacramento. Selection is limited with other items, and maybe a little pricier, but the produce is always fresh.
