Quaint little small town restaurant with home cooked food. The place looked clean. Service was slow, the fried chicken was a bit overcooked and over seasoned as well as the yams, the fried green tomatoes were extremely tough. I've never had a fried green tomato that had skin so tough I had trouble biting through it. The macaroni and cheese was the crown jewel and the sweet tea was really good, plus they have fresh lemon. I'm probably a bit tougher, as a critic, than most. That being said, the food has been really good. I've been eating there regularly and I don't have any complaints regarding food, service, or atmosphere. DEFINATELY worth the money spent.
The chicken sandwich was tender and juicy and came with large portions of cole slaw and FF. I wanted the fish platter but they were out. The service was prompt and polite.
The atmosphere was great. This is an old Union SC landmark. Hearts has been around since I can remember. This was my first time visiting this establishment since I was a child.. I remember the hamburger steak was the best ever. I'm vegetarian now so I didn't have that. Several people in my party had it and said it was delicious. I have fried Okra which was scrumptious. The Greek salad was pretty good. Not much you can do wrong with that. But overall, it was great going back and even better to see them still thriving after so many decades!
Clean and the food is good. The redesigned and updated dining area is spot on. The new management has taken the food and service to the next level. The menu has been shorten but most of all the favorites are still available.
