Food was good once it showed up. They were busy and we were hungry so maybe I a bit more critical. I will say it was worth the wait.. I had the pork chops and mashed potatoes..
This was off of the beaten path from where we originally planned to go, beause that one had closed on this day. Fortunately for us, this one was definitely well worth the effort to get to. Speaking of effort, we had to drive past the restaurant and turn around down the street. There is a large median in the way that blocks access to the driveway. We came here at 2:30 pm, and the place was still about ½ full. That to me speaks volumes about the restaurant. They have a rather large menu, so there are plenty of choices to suit your taste. I also noticed that they serve breakfast all day as well. The staff was very friendly and nice. The food came out very hot and pretty quickly. I ordered the broasted chicken meal. It came with 4 pieces of chicken, JoJo potatoes, and a salad. The chicken had a light coating on it and was crisp on the outside and very moist on the inside. The salad was just iceberg lettuce, a little bit of carrot, and 2 small tomatoes, no greens, but still tasted good. The JoJo's were large and had a light flavorful coating on them. Everything was delicious. My wife ordered the seafood pasta. There was a lot of seafood mixed in with the pasta. It had a light buttery sauce and came with a salad and a large piece of garlic bread. I think they could have lessened the amount of sauce on it for our tastes. Otherwise, it was good. For the fact that this was an unplanned visit, this was well worth the trip. I found the prices to be very reasonable.
Some of the best country fried steak I've ever had. It's served with brown gravy, hashbrowns, two eggs and a side of toast. The food comes out piping hot. The service is exceptionally good and fast. Wonderful atmosphere and the food is a 10/10 regarding portion sizes and flavor.
It had been a long time since my last visit to FB. Loved the country fried steak, It was probably the best I ever had. The crispy texture of the steak, covered with the rich gravy, made me hum. Acceptable eggs; the potatoes missed the mark a bit. Very good service.
While in Akron, OH and you are getting hungry and interested in a good home cooked meal, I recommend Farmer Boy restaurants in the area. I’ve have several types of meals throughout the years there, and I was never dissatisfied. Great good, great personable service, and a very clean homey atmosphere. One of my favorite dishes there is the meatloaf platter with mash potatoes, green beans, salad, and roll. The other favorite is a BLT with cheddar cheese and extra bacon. If you are still hungry, then there’s a nice selection of pastries, cakes, and pies right as you walk in to choose from. Enjoy!!
