Ernie's Famous Subs

This was my 1st time eating at Ernie's. These are the takeaways. • The service was great. The staff converse with customers making it a relaxed atmosphere. • My sub was made to order. The sub was well seasoned. I could taste some of it. • This establishment works fast so I had to check my bags to be sure my order was correct & that I had all of my items. • My only negative comments about this place is the fact that my sub was overloaded with Oregano to the point that when I bit into it, all I could taste was Oregano & only a hint of the seasoning on the sandwich meat. They put it on the hot cheese which made it very difficult to scrape some of the oregano off. I ordered lettuce on my sub & I didn't get very much if any. Other than that little mess up, I'd give this little hole in the wall spot 4 ???? Stars.

When I tell you to RUN and not walk to this place... I mean it!!! I had heard many things about this particular establishment from not only reviews but several people, so I decided to give then a try today. I am 45 minutes away from this restaurant but was in the area today, and I wanted to take a chance on this place... I'm SO GLAD I did!! From the minute you walk in you are greeted with some of the most amazing scents and smells of your lifetime!! I can see why the parking lot was full and there were so many people inside waiting patiently for their perfectly prepared creations. At the advice of a few, I chose the large Peppersteak Sub All The Way, and let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed!! I just don't know how they can pack so much flavor in one sandwich!! The entire staff was so friendly and polite and busily working to help everyone, and the short wait was well worth the product (trust me on the wait) There were a few small tables available for dine in, if you choose, but I saw most people were like me and chose to carry out. Grade A Sanitation on the wall, everything was clean and I found the environment welcoming. Now on to the sub... I don't know if they bake the bread in house or have it delivered, but it was so soft and fresh, but that little bit of crunch you want in that perfect bite! The steak was prepared and seasoned perfectly, with just the right amount of meat, lettuce, tomatoes, banana peppers onion and oregano that your mouth is on the best carnival ride of your life in those bites! The only negative thing I can say is that I'm 90 minutes away round trip, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be back there again soon!! And yes, if you follow me, you know I don't give alot of 5 star reviews... but this place Is DEFINITELY 5 star worthy! Keep up the good work guys, I'll be dropping in on you again in the future!! Move over Hwy 55, Andys, and all those other spots claiming to be the top dogs in the sub game. Ernie's is absolutely the undisputed champ when it comes to pepper steak subs, and we're not even exaggerating. This place will seriously fill you up, and the subs are next-level incredible. ???????? It's got that classic HITW charm that just adds to the whole experience. And let us tell you, we've never, not once, had a sub here that didn't blow our taste buds away. They're always so fresh, bursting with flavor, and served piping hot. ???? If you've never stepped foot in Ernie's, you're missing out big time, fam. I haven’t been to Ernie’s in a while so today I placed an order as I used to do when I come home to visit… my order wasn’t right and I’m back on the highway .. I called my order in and asked for pepper steak with cheese, fried onions, banana peppers, tomatoes, Mayo and mustard… and a fried apple pie… the person on the phone asked me if I wanted cheese…. I am soooo disappointed… there are NO fried onions, no taste.. the cheese was very bland to NONE and where’s the pepper within the steak?? You bathe the sandwich with mustard! I am sooo upset!! You got to be considerate of people who’s getting on the highway and no time to turn around and bring the sandwich back! One less visit for me when I come back home to visit!

I was in Greenville, NC and asked where the best place for sandwiches was. Without hesitation I was referred to Ernie's. Outstanding sandwiches and apple turnovers. Your tongue and stomach will be delighted.
