El' Cerrito Mexican bar & grill

I have been coming to El Cerrito ever since they opened in 2005. Amazing Mexican food....located in a strip mall in Hillsdale, Michigan non the less, excellent service too. Even though I have long moved out of Hillsdale County, anytime I am back I always stop in.

I wanted to share how great these folks are. They make great authentic Mexican food, great service, kind and timely. I came for a pickup order and they even threw in two extra tacos!! Great addition to our city for many years.

This place had that authentic Mexican feel! Probably because there were flies buzzing everywhere and the staff were all fresh over.. I met my date here. The food was absolutely terrible for the price. Starter basket of chips was stale. The steak tacos were way overcooked. The nachos had unmixed ingredients and entire leaves of lettuce that you had to somehow navigate.. The date was also bad. I'm not blaming the restaurant, but.. 2/10 experience, probably never coming back to this town.

Our server, Childo, was amazing. Helpful, friendly, with a great attitude. Food was wonderful, as always, and the mango margarita is so good! Could not do the margarita tower this time, but it's worth a visit. Accessible to all.

Delicious !! I definitely plan to go again. After being seated our drink order was taken. A basket of chips with a contaner/bottle of blended salsa was swerved as an appetizer (free). Bowls were given without being asked for everyone at the table to pour the salsa into. I had the al pastor tacos. The meat was a bit on the dry side, however they were still fantastic. Served with lime wedges that I used as well as adding some pico de gallo to top them off. My partner and children joined me. The kids menu had several options under $10. Taco cheese was cold and not warm which my child was disappointed about. The fries are some of the best I've had with just the right amount of crisp ! My partner had a burrito (not sure which one). He finished every bite. The waitress was polite, patient and quick. Overall a good experience
