My husband, son and I enjoyed a lovely, delicious breakfast at Coromoto Restaurant & Bar! The atmosphere is very cool, clean and the staff is friendly and attentive. Our breakfast was perfectly cooked and seasoned; not pictured were huge, stuffed cheese empanadas. Café con leche hit the spot as well! We look forward to returning to try the rest of their menu items.

Very expensive this place has become since they have a new Management! 3 cachapas $50 dollars wow! We rather going to the new Venezuelan restaurant “MARACAIBO” It is very clean! Prices are so much better and the attention is way better! In this Coromoto on top that is expensive They care about how much tip you leave them! Two months ago I came with my mother to have 2 cachapas and two juices and we left $27 dollars tip and the waiter not even a thank you! It is like the tip is obligatory! Never coming to this place again It is not Venezuelan managed anymore!

So a Venezuelan colleague recommended and swore about this place which it is the closest to being authentically Venezuelan tasty....i was a bit skeptical when i arrived to where Coromoto ( the name derives from Our Lady of Coromoto, after an indigenous chief of the same tribal name) is located, and i was not impressed. Located next to a construction site. It's a small place, 3 tables, small bar, and a couple of large screen TVs. Plain decor. Nothing to brag about. But i will share with you what I'll brag about..... the service(splendid, and courteous), the food (amazingly exquisite, fresh, hot at the right temperature) I was taken aback WOW!. The server recommended as an app small meatballs (tasty) excellent choice, the cheese empanadas made with handmade cheese, succulent the dough had a sweet and salty taste (i could've eaten 5 if it wasn't that i wanted to try other delicacies) Also tried the beef empanadas made with shredded tender beef, juicy. To top it off as an app needed to taste the arepa con queso ( corn pancake like a squared pocket with cheese in the middle, warm. Then ordered the main course, i had the tilapia in lemon sauce with a salad, and black beans, yummy. Also ordered the salteado de carne de res ( styr fry steak strips sautéed, and smothered with onions, and peppers and French fries. The meat was so soft, tender, melted in your mouth. My experience i rated it a 4.7 because of the service, chef, and preparation/taste of the food. Decor needs improvements. Their main dishes are Pabellon, cachapas ( sweet corn corn cakes with any protein you want). The plain corn cakes or add any protein to it as well. They also offer smashed green plantains. The bar offers a variety of mixed drinks/ beers ( try Polar)... no dessert in this visit which means I'll comeback to try other authentic dishes.... can't wait!

Ordered the Carne Patacón and the Arepa Reina pepiada. The carne patacón was good for the most part. But not really sure why they would add tomatoes to it; shlt makes everything inside fall apart. Then the reina pepiada was the clear example of disappointment; it had no flavor. They were really shy with the amount of salt. Not to mention the meat was not fully shredded. There were many Chunks of chicken rather than the whole of it shredded. To top things off they used dark meat when it’s common knowledge this recipe goes with breast. To the owners: please take a day off and go to Patacón Pisao in downtown Manhattan. Try their patacones and their Reina pepiada. Learn a thing or 2. You’ll thank me later. You guys have potential. You got this!
