Cafe y Algo Mas

We're on a NYC trip, and we stopped at this great family restaurant. Ordered beef steak with rice and salad. Special chicken soup. The spicy sauce home made are great with every dish. Go there, you won't regret.

The food and the service was amazing but when it was time to pay that's when they lost me. I ordered the Bandeja which cost $17 and a Orange Fanta when my bill came it was $27, I was flabbergasted when I asked why my bill was so high she suddenly didn't understand English, when I asked to speak with someone who spoke English the guy knew immediately why I was complaining. He stated I was charged $3 for something that was included but the server forgot to tell me there was an extra charge I explained to him the item was included on the menu and there was no mention of an extra charge, he reluctantly gave me back $3, I exclaimed that still doesn't account for the other $4, he said they charge for to-go containers. Although the food was amazing I will NOT be returning and I will NOT recommend. Money is tight for everyone so if someone is patronizing your business you should think twice before trying to nickel and dime them and unfortunately I didn't tip the server because she was in on it too, sad!!!

The empanadas I asked for was beef. 95% was potato. Hot chocolate was alright. First and last time.

The ladies who work here are nasty I don't care how good your coffee iss if the customer service doesn't match. I walked in and within seconds was treated like I was in there begging for change. All I did was walk in with 2 kids and look at the window. Immediately get corned by the lady on the counter she asked me in the nastiest attitude can I help you with something.. And when I confronted her she was like are you going to buy something and started laughing at my broken Spanish. Because they all appranrly dont speak english so i had to speak in spanish which is my second language..If I hadn't walked so far I would have left. And if I wasn't with the kids I would have thrown my coffee on Their window. Nasty bit**z all of them. No customer service. I don't know if it was the color of my skin,or the fact that I had children but i felt 100% discriminated against.

The customer service here is impeccable. The way I was treated, they could have sold me week old croissants and I would have been happy! That is definitely not the case though! The croissants were amazing! I also bought the beans and rice; they were so delicious! Highly recommended ????
