CUSTOMER REVIEWS
Outstanding customer service, and excellent wine. Gentleman we talked to was very helpful and friendly, gave us the history, pairings and history of the wines.
We stopped here as a harvest host camper. On arrival, I pulled off to the side to avoid blocking the driveway. The proprietor hurried out to make me feel foolish for driving on the grass. He then told me where to park. I asked if we could taste/buy some wine, but he said he'd just closed, and while he wouldn't do a tasting he'd be happy to open the shop so we could spend some money after we got set up. We got set up, and I milled around outside the winery for about an hour. I finally knocked on the door of his house and was told that he'd fallen asleep. He came out a few minutes later and opened the shop so I could buy some wine. Nothing they had really appealed - particularly without tasting it - but I bought a couple bottles because that's what you do when someone lets you drop anchor for a night. Overall I was underwhelmed. The wine was not my cup of tea (generally sweet), the grounds were okay but nothing spectacular, and I generally felt like our being there was an inconvenience to the owner. This is in stark contrast to our typical harvest host winery experiences, of which we've had dozens that were excellent.
Just a beautiful and peaceful place. Their wine selection was very good and better than the other fine wineries in the area due to their years of experience and the use of their own grapes to make of their wines. Terry was very nice and her hospitality has very nice to is all. She even allowed us to walk thru the vineyard and taste the grapes. Big selection to choose from and they ship to your home, only purchased 4 bottles only cause I purchased 4 at other wineries and I had to carry with me on the plane. Definitely will be ordering from their website in the future.
Stopped on a beautiful but quiet Monday afternoon in August with the owner providing the tasting. He was friendly and informative about the wines. We enjoyed a glass on the lovely patio and took a bottle to enjoy at home.
So is Burr Oak even open anymore? We showed up at 11:30 today and everything is dark and locked up? Called twice, no answer? I mean if closed say so, or adjust your hours so people don’t waste the gas to drive out here.
