This restaurant is an absolutely delicious hidden local gem of a restaurant that must be checked out. The atmosphere and friendliness of the staff is always above par. The presentation of the food is always appetizing. All ingredients seem freshly made on the spot with fresh ingredients. Outdoor patio seating was enjoyable during the warm weather. Desert options are delicious. There are two Bueno Locos: There WAS the Bueno Loco of years ago, with a large Peruvian and South American inspired menu emphasizing burritos, chimis, and chalupas, and now there IS Bueno Loco, with it's condensed and simplified menu, offering a smaller variety without uncompromising the quality and taste, perhaps even improving upon it. The one major critique is that they used to offer some very spicy, hot,yet flavorful items that are no longer there. It was one of the only restaurants that catered to those intense flavors. In terms of overall and like such as ;) ... this place gets five stars
Had a very big portion for the price, however the food was bland tasting. See photo of sweet potato burrito. The salsa tasted old and stale chips mixed with fresh chips. My comrade had a steak and cheese with large steak chunks inside the burrito, making it difficult for her to consume. Disclaimer, I did have a new waitress and she had to ask about beer selections when I inquired, but did not have good table side check-ins. Most of my water was empty for the meal. They did a good job with stringing Christmas-tree lights up in the ceiling to add some decoration.
The food is excellent - a wide range of spices, good variation on the menu. The chicken was my particular favorite, but the ground beef in the tacos and salad was also top notch. We will be coming back here.
This is the worst Mexican food I’ve had. Ever. (And I live in MAINE! So I don’t even have high standards for the food I can get here.) We went on New Year’s Day because they were on of the only places open. I wish I could accurately describe just how terrible this place was, all the way from service to food itself. We sat down and waited a really long time for someone to come speak with us, despite the restaurant being empty. Once we ordered, the apps can out within a reasonable amount of time. I got the coconut shrimp, which were burnt to a crisp and served with corn syrup. Couldn’t eat it. Then we sat around and waited for mains. While waiting, I saw our server hanging out in the back of the restaurant checking her phone. Finally food came out. I got the beef tacos. I don’t have words to describe what I received. They looked a bit like tacos, in that they were U-shaped. But that’s it. There were a few veggies at the bottom, a couple shreds of cheese, and a HAMBURGER on the top, with some strange red sauce drizzled on top. I am not joking when I tell you that the meat on these tacos was just embarrassing. I would have been humiliated to have to serve that to a customer. It was completely unseasoned beef, and it was bound together like a burger rather than crumbly like a normal beef taco. We were laughing hysterically and trying to capture in photos just how disgusting these looked. My partner’s meal was no better! All of the food went back unfinished - one bite of the tacos was enough; didn’t even attempt to take another bite. We mentioned it to a woman who seemed to be a manager or something and she of course removes it from the bill, and told us that they had only one person in the kitchen that day and that maybe she had forgotten to season the beef. Do not subject yourself to this place. Go literally anywhere else.
Vegan Mexican! Yay!! This was an awesome surprise! Their 3 layer dip (vegan) was incredible, as were the fajitas and quesadilla with seitan & vegan cheese. And the friendly bartender muddled extra jalapeño in my marg. 5/5!!
