It's definitely not there yet. You can have a nice walk around, but much of it consists of fields, and there's minimal pathways. There's also no parking yet, so you need to park on the main road and walk down the private drive. It's very easy to miss with no indication of the park until you make it through the gate at the end of the road. It really needs a way to the river too. Hopefully it will continue to be developed into a conventional park, but it's not really worth the trip for now.
absolutely beautiful! The trails are well-maintained, and the views of the river and surrounding nature are breathtaking. It’s a peaceful spot to hike, have a picnic, or just enjoy the outdoors.
I saw Bowers Rock State Park on the map and thought, "Sweet! Natural areas I have not yet explored!" Went out to check it out via Bryant Way and was almost immediately confronted by a very cranky park neighbor on 4-wheeler. He was pretty upset about me being on the private drive and made it clear my car was not welcome there. He did say I could park further back and walk in. I will absolutely be doing that soon. Being denied access only makes me more curious to check the place out! Looks to me like a beautiful natural area being guarded and enjoyed only by a handful of wealthy property owners. I'm looking forward to easier access being created at some point but will definitely return soon! Update... I went back the next day and hiked around. Not much here to see. If you're just looking for a quiet place to walk around without crowds this could be it. But access is not the easiest. Park on the public road Walk a quarter mile ish. Walk past some farms and marshy ponds. The quarry/lake probably has fish? Definitely some pretty birding to do here. But not really worth the trip for most folks. Also the neighbor lady was much nicer since I was passing by on foot. Even got a friendly wave.
Well tried to make it out there and seemed to be a bit of confusion with roads and Bryant way being private access or not... Juts gonna go for it next time and get on to public land... Seems pretty unmaintained and mostly just a private park for hazel nut farmers... Mostly just think that most of the river should be for the public use, but maybe one-day.
This state property should be more publicly accessable. We biked out to the old pond and cought a bass. A access toad has been improved since my last visit.
