The drawbridge, Built-in 1927, is an iconic bridge, spanning the Shark River at Route 71 between Avon and Belmar. We were there at sunset time and luckily one small boat was passing through so witnessed the bridge opening and closing to let the boat pass through. not a big bridge, the river is just the backwater. The bridge connecting Belmar and Avon by the sea. if you are at any boardwalk, just walk across it.
Grew up in the area. Great since I was in diapers. Stores have changed of course, I'm 64 now. Still a wonderful place.
Difficult to park, but the view is worth the walk for sunset!
Highly recommend to visit ????
Cool place to stop on a bike ride. Good destination, safe spot to rest. Nice view
