The service was great and quick. Food was delicious while vegetarian was able to get meal prepared to his exact liking. The rice is real fried rice and not that hard yellow grain made at quick carryout places. The sauces for dipping were full of flavor and I ended up drenching my egg roll!
My family went to Young Chow's quite a few times for lunch and dinner. Every time that we went the food was great and we enjoyed all the various dishes we ordered. We had different dishes from lunch and dinner specials to al carte items. The restaurant seems to do well and is always busy, but they seem perpetually understaffed. On several different occasions, we had the same waitress who was the only one working as the wait staff for the entire restaurant. It didn't affect our experience, but they should consider hiring some additional employees to help existing staff.
Local legendary place to dine-in or take-out. Staff is lovely. Food is legitimately better than any Chinese restaurant I've been in across the East coast in major cities. If you're looking for Chinese, this is the spot.
Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - ordered a Young Chow Fried Rice (large) and a Young Chow's Special Chicken (small) with fried rice. We were surprised since the two to-go boxes weren't that different in size but the chicken came with the whole box of rice and a separate container for chicken. When we ordered the fried rice we were thinking it was Youngzhou (Yeung Chow or Yang Chow) fried rice which is a egg fried rice with mixed vegetables, scallions, shrimp, and char siu (roasted pork). While it had some of the components, it was not very well seasoned and the proteins were not seasoned. The chicken was decent and the serving size was great! Service: 5/5 - friendly. We asked about the size for the lunch special and the cashier mentioned it was closer to the small size for the food but that it came with a side and a soup/salad. Ambiance: n/a - ordered food to go so we didn't see much of the restaurant Value for price: 4/5 - depends on the dish you get. Do NOT get a fried rice as it's not worth the price but the chicken was decent in quantity of food.
I was in town yesterday for a funeral. My wife and I were on our way to get dinner when we stumbled across Young Chow's nestled in the mountainside. At first glance, it seemed like a decent place to eat. WE WERE WRONG. She said to wait ten minutes and it ended up taking 45 minutes!!! We got a large sweet and sour chicken and a large noodle. What we received was laughably small. Maybe 10 pieces of chicken? And it had zero, and I mean ZERO flavor. Two pieces of carrots thrown in. The rice smelled foul, and literally tasted like it was soaked overnight in a sock by the dumpster!! The noodles were dry and old. And it was over $30!!! This place should honestly be shut down. It is the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten in my life. STAY FAR FAR AWAY. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. (P.S. The old lady that takes your order was very sweet).
