Spent the day at Turkey point and came here on our way back home. We got two double burgers, fries, two kids combos. The wait time was horrendous. For a Fry stand I could understand a 15 minute wait but we waited close to 40. Would've been same time in and out at a real full-service restaurant. Double burgers were disappointing. Unseasoned and tasteless. Generous sized burger but overall lacked complete flavor. We aren't sure if they just forgot to season the meat or what, but both of us were really disappointed in the grey meet that was served. The fries given were mediocre at Best. Half of them were overcooked and close to burnt. The other half were just right. I appreciate that they were fresh cut but there has to be some sort of standard and consistency. Also very underseasoned. The kids menu is the only reason we gave two stars instead of one. Kids menu pricing was reasonable.
Stubby’s Grill and Dairy Freeze. I honestly don’t even want to tell you about this place. You might end up lineing up and making my wait time for more food longer. I’m also embarrassed that I have never been here before. This place has existed here at 319 James St in Delhi since 1961. I couldn’t even try and fathom the amount of times I have passed this place and never stopped here. I thought it was ice cream only. Tonight we tried Dairy Freeze for the first time. If I can give you three pieces of advice. 1. Order a head of time. This hidden gem is popular with those who know about it. 2. CASH ONLY. 3. Parking fills up fast. We got a Big M, bacon cheese burger, chili cheese fries, loaded fry, chicken nuggets and fries for the kids and a PEANUTBUTTER MILK SHAKE. If there is any food that can rival my love for coffee and bacon. It’s peanut butter. ? The burgers are fresh local beef(Norpack and Vanessa meats). Fresh cut fries that are exactly like an iconic chip wagon fry. Some salt and malt vinegar and you will be happy. The toppings on the fries are made in house. Actual chili(with a hint of sweet. Almost reminds me of manwich) even my kids loved it. Real bacon on a loaded fry. The chicken nuggets were solid. My daughter said they’re better than McDonalds. There is plenty of outdoor sitting and we enjoyed our meal at a picnic table while several people stopped to pet our dog. Chicken wing loved the attention. If you go. Go with patients. This isn’t fast food. It’s fresh food. Enjoy some sun and fresh air.
One of the best places for some quick food, they have burgers, dogs, sausages, fries, fried food (that is really good), poutine, wraps, salads, smoothies, kids menu, and desserts. They also seem to have food for your dog if you take one :p. Comfortable enclosure for ordering in the winter, nice shade in the summer, and an outdoor dining area too :) Really good food, friendly people, decent prices :) Update: they changed how they do their fries a little bit: they are even better :)
Burgers, fish and fries are great! Good food takes time, so expect to wait or order ahead. Drive thru food is faster, but not nearly as good.
The "Poutine" is made with shredded cheese, unfortunate when you see there's several local cheese producers and shops with fantastic, fresh, squeaky curds. Disco fries is more like it. Burgers are fine, nothing to write home about. Fairly expensive and the business is cash only. No legitimate reason for that in 2025. Overall, It's passable if you want to fill the hole that is the publics stomach, and don't mind being ushered towards the atm across the four lane highway.
