Steak 'n Shake

What a bizarre experience at a new location. Their dining room closes at 7 so coming in at 10 after I had to use the drive through. There were 2 employees in the dining room sitting at a table and a young man standing at the register talking with a guest for the entirety of the five minutes I was there. When I tugged in the door he gave me the throat slash gesture which I figured out meant the dining room was closed. My food only took three minutes after I ordered which wasn’t bad. And my burger was hot but light on pickles and onions. But the big problem were the fries. You have banners at the site and tons of media pumped into your beef tallow fries effort. But they were so old and cold they would have been just as awful had they been boiled in water. Good grief. A menu ingredient is not just pointless when you ignore the basics. It delivers an even greater sense of expectation failure and completely destroys your message. Please. Stop. Selling. 20 minute. Cold. Fries.

Everyone was so nice and the food was great. Great prices too. I really miss having one close to us. Was glad to see one still open.

Excellent service. I ordered the Frisco Melt and it only came with 1 steak burger instead of the advertised 2. No biggie. Their service made up for the small error. And I must say switching to the Tallow for their fries is amazing. Such a big difference and delicious!

I'm from Illinois, so I've been going to Steak n Shake for almost 30 years. The food was good, service was great. I miss the shakes coming in glass shake glasses with the extra shake in the metal shake mixing cup, but otherwise, it was as I remember it.

Customers beware! This location (or these specific employees anyway) apparently decides to close 45 minutes earlier than their stated time. We were in the drive thru at 8:15 PM tonight and no one ever came over the speaker to take our order. There were two workers inside but they had already turned off the dining room lights before we pulled up. They just stayed at the back and talked to each other and watched us as we pulled off. Do not waste your time here.
