CUSTOMER REVIEWS
Good old fashioned home style cooking, at a great price. Cafeteria style line where you serve yourself. Lot's of choices, including vegetables, meats, salads, and desserts. Nothing fancy, just clean, and adequate. Good tea, and the fried chicken is locally famous. I have been there many times over many years, and it is always good.
Their Wednesday fried shrimp are the bomb. The buffet is always southern good. The owner, Joyce, is a true southern Belle, just as sweet and kind as she can be to all who visit. Everybody should try Smith's Fried Chicken. My husband, David, says it's the best fried chicken in this part of the country.
Headed home after a great overnight away, searching for a nice place for a little supper. Had some bad experiences in this town. Found this diner. Customer just leaving stated food was great, best chicken in town. Second statement probably true, unfortunately, since there isn't much to choose from in this town! Great food? It tasted ok. Typical buffet food with an attempt at down home country cooking, but COLD!! Shredded bbq had been on bar for a while and was seriously dried up. Fish fillets tasted ok and were warm but beginning to dry out. One dessert choice: crumbles of cake with whipped cream and old strawberries, all getting mighty dry. Only redeeming item was fresh fried chicken being put out as we came in. NOT the best I've ever had but, again, probably the best in town, and it was hot. We love checking out the "mom and pop" restaurants as we travel and have never been "burned". Almost happened this time.
There was a long wait on the food. The restaurant is supposed to close at 9 o clock. The workers were pouring bleach on the floor before it ever got to be 8 o clock. I would not come back here and do not recommend anyone else coming either unless you want to here the workers argue with each other.
Great food. Haven't been here in years. Went today and food was as good as I remember. Friendly service and fresh food.
