Schenley Plaza is a beautiful and vibrant spot right in the heart of Pittsburgh’s cultural district. Surrounded by iconic buildings like the Carnegie Library and the University of Pittsburgh, it offers a perfect mix of green space, seating areas, and local food vendors. It’s well-maintained, peaceful, and a great place to relax, read, or just enjoy the city vibe. Whether you’re visiting or a local, it’s a must-see stop in Oakland!

Terrific location and so much better than a parking lot! Great space to just hang out, do yoga, meet friends, hold rallies and/or enjoy your lunch at The Porch or any of the other stands. Or bring your own!

Such a nice plaza. You can relax or walk around. There are restaurants, an ice cream shop, and very clean restrooms in the area. The lawn is beautiful and nice for lounging or a picnic.

Schenley Plaza is a wide, green hangout in Oakland, a short walk from CMU and right by the Cathedral of Learning. It’s an easy place to pause between classes: a big lawn with moveable chairs and tables, plenty of shade, and a friendly, open feel. In warm weather the carousel runs and kids laugh, while students read, eat, or meet for group work at the edges. Food stands and nearby cafes make it simple to grab lunch and sit outside. There are often small events or music, but most days it’s calm enough to study or people-watch. It works for quick breaks, laid-back picnics, and evening chats after lab. When you’re done, you can head straight into Schenley Park, over to Phipps, or back to campus in a few minutes. It’s simple, central, and welcoming.

Schenley Plaza is a wonderful spot to take a break from the busy city. This green space is adjacent to the main Carnegie Library as well as restaurants and food kiosks. The parks department hosts activities in the plaza. A carousel is also located on-site. The space is well manicured and clean.
