Went to Galveston- searched for halal restaurants. This one came up and this is the only one on the island. Food was not good . The gentleman who was there taking order - cooking and serving the food was fine . And when we were eating some kind of bug was walking on the table- couldn’t finish the food - after that - asked for a to go box . He gave one - and the box was not clear too - may be it was there for a while - Took the food - but eventually decided to trash it . Dear restaurant owner - the call pest control before city officials close you down . And definitely hire a good chef. Otherwise you will have to close the business soon . If you need halal food - then go to Huston downtown area .
The Only reason to eat here was since it was halal and on zabihah app. Called to see we could visit. The lady told us to order ahead over the phone since they needed to make food fresh. Ordered chicken tikka masala and chicken biryani. Then pakoras. Nothing was fresh. Tikka masala was microwaved. Biryani came cold and chicken had freezer burn, had to ask to get it reheated. How do you mess up pakora is what bothers me. It was old pakoras probably from morning buffet. Double fried. See pics for details. Only thing fresh was the Nans. Only eat here for last resort other wise avoid.( I took Uber here) Service : Lady was constantly on Phone. Pretty much me and my wife left hungry. Kids did eat the tikka masala. Other then that the whole experience was bad.
I happened to see this hidden restaurant on a walk today and we tried it for dinner. The woman who runs it is so sweet. We chatted with her about India after we had finished eating. The aloo gobi (cauliflower& potatoes) was delicious. The butter chicken was also really good. We got two orders of garlic naan but they were so big we could only eat one order. The mango lassi was very refreshing. We love family run, authentic restaurants like this.
Really great, fresh food. We went in tonight at 8:30 pm. Ordered vegetable samosas, pakora, garlic naan, chana masala, butter chicken and kabobs everything tasted fresh and really delicious. We really loved the butter chicken but everything was good. My son in law, who is from India, was with us, and the Mrs was Indian approved! We appreciated the good service as well even tho it was rather late in the evening. We were all very glad we tried it and would recommend it.
While searching for Indian cuisine, we decided to try this place. Unfortunately, our expectations fell short as the overall dining experience didn’t meet our standards. It would have been helpful to read more reviews for a more informed decision. Definitely avoid the place.
