Old Times Cafe

I loved the original OTC, but Mel’s OTC taking debit/credit cards is a GAME CHANGER!!! My dad had been telling me to stop by for a while and I finally did. Got my son a grilled cheese, and some fries. I grabbed some tatter wedges and slaw. The slaw was really good. It reminded me of a more sophisticated KFC slaw. Texture was similar but the flavor was much better. Also the tatter wedges were great. The crinkle cut fries were the weakest element. Kinda soggy and desperate for salt, but everything else was good, cheap, and fast.

Had burgers, fries, and corn nuggets. They were all very good. We visited just a week after new ownership and know it will just get better!

Had the BBQ pork chop , mashed potatoes, green beans ,cream style corn, Mexican corn bread & sweet tea dessert was strawberry cake with cream icing ???? 2-13-25 #Tennessee Vacation

They're open. That's the first best thing about Mel's. For 5 years or so, finding the little corner diner open has been a challenge, but now it's open all the time. The food is fresh and hot, nothing reheated or reconstituted - at least with the things I've ordered so far. The owners are good people and funny as hell. Their staff are very good too.

The wife has the meat and 3 and I ate cheeseburger. It was all very good. Glad we decided to drive through Spencer.
