Old Lode Lane Fish Bar

I ordered a large piece of cod and a cone of chips, but I overheard the owner say to the assistant as I had been waiting 10 minutes , Give him a mini fish. I should have challenged him at the time, but I didn’t want to cause a fuss. Very disappointed with the low morals of the owner in fobbing me off with a mini fish when I paid full price. Chips weren’t very nice either, they were mostly the scratchy bits from the end of the run. Definitely do not recommend this place and would not come here again.

Excellent fresh cooked fish and chips. Good service from the staff. Would recommend the haddock and also the chicken meat and chips.

Absolutely awful for its location. It’s not even worth a star. I paid 7 pound for a mixed meat wrap. You couldn’t taste the food as it was so greasy.

Friendly and helpful staff. The owner in particular is extremely welcoming whenever he has seen me in the shop. Food is delicious, and the occasional wait ensures that the food is actually being cooked there and then. Not sat in the hotplate displays all day and night. My favourite of 4 extremely local fish and chip shops

I had a tray of chicken kebab meat, chips and salad tonight. I have to say that it was the best chicken kebab meat that I have ever had. It was tasty, tender and not at all dry, like some are. Their chips are lovely too and the portions are always good.
