Hickory House Restaurant

The restaurant isn't much to look at, as it's a building that is a restaurant, having been converted from a fast food business location previously. But, inside the business, isca warm environment, with friendly owners and staff, who really care about your experience, and quality of your food! They have several great items on their menu, and could accommodate anybody with a special dietary need or request. The food is great, and overall, it's just a great little restaurant. Honestly, the food, appreciation, and service that you receive, makes you wish that every other restaurant put as much care and effort into your satisfaction and experience! ??????????? (At least when I had went there.)

Breakfast food is great! Service good! But folks do not get the cinnamon roll, talk about DRY! you have to have a half gallon of milk to wash it down! Worst cinnamon roll I ever got! But if you don't believe me, Go and waste your money!

I’ve been here for breakfast several times. It is clear this is a popular choice. Over all the staff is very friendly and accommodating , with ability to give and receive good humor. This last time I came for breakfast there was a wait, no worries. The staff was bustling and turning over the dining room at a steady pace. We were there in time for Breakfast but seated after the cut off. They still allowed us to order from the Breakfast menu. While others were still coming in and adding their names to the wait list I observed a would be patron handle the hair of the hostess. The hostess barked at the lady not to touch her. I do agree that boundaries are important and the hostess is in her right to chastise the unwelcome attention of the older woman, however the manor it was delivered in could have been better. I really don’t know why people are drawn to touching others without permission. I don’t fault the hostess for her clear statement “do not touch me” but when representing a business I think delivery could have been better. We were sat at a table. As always the staff is pleasant. When ordering I chose a plate I have had before. I asked if I could have my eggs cooked differently than the description. The waitress acted as if that was absurd telling me that the eggs were scrambled up with the other goodies all together. I conceded. When my plate came that was not the case. The eggs and goodies were cooked and added to the plate separately. A bummer I would have enjoyed it more the way I had wanted. My side of bacon wasn’t delivered until I asked about it and brought toward the end of my meal. This wasn’t my favorite experience here.

This is the first time i've had a r bad experience at Hickory House. It was the first time I took my husband there to eat. His food was completely cold upon arrival at the table. My food was slightly warm but by no means hot. A waiter came around one time to ask if I needed a refill on my coffee, they have little coffee cups. They were busy and we were there for breakfast. But they're busy any time I'm there. And my service has never been like this. I was very disappointed!

The food was good but it's a small place. It was hard to accommodate a party of 6, but they were able to do it after just a short wait. Employees were all very friendly, and the portions were generous. Our server was pleasant and kept the coffee cups filled. The grits were outstanding, with a delicious flavor that didn't need anything added. We left full and happy. Kids meal had a giant portion, and omelets are big enough to split.
