Recently, my girlfriend and I were passing through Clinton, TN on our way to Knoxville. It was a little after 10 am in the morning and we were a little hungry. My Girlfriend said 'let's go to Golden Girls for Breakfast' and we went. It was a rainy morning, everything was wet including us. We parked in Handicap out front, there is a Handicap ramp as the main entrance and Handicap/wheelchair accessible entrance. When we first went in the main door, it was like a waiting area, then the 2nd door took us into the checkout/kitchen area. It was very refreshing to see and experience. They were in process of making Desserts, which smelled really good. We waited only a few minutes to be seated. The main dining area is Wheelchair accessible, there is a secondary dining area that I saw that did not appear to be Wheelchair accessible. There is 1 dining area that is. The person who guided us to a table was kind enough to remove 1 of the chair for me, which was very much appreciated due to being in a wheelchair. Our Waitress/Server was a young lady by the name of Hollie. She was friendly, kind & attentive. Hollie took our order and since I had never been there before. I was enjoying the atmosphere. My Girlfriend has been there before. Hollie brought out out order and ordered Jellies for our Toasts. I really enjoy the meal, I could only eat about half of it. Apparently, the Golden Girls Restaurant is really popular for their Desserts as well. We order 2 slices of Coconut Cake to go. Hollie brought both and our check as well. I believe that I had a very positive experience there. I have lived in Knoxville, TN for 50 years, I have been to all the surrounding areas including Clinton but going to Golden Girls was my 1st time. Thank you for the great experience and the food food. Their restaurant is clean, plenty of parking, Wheelchair accessible as well, and The Staff are friendly & helpful. Leave us a Like (below) if you read the review.
This is a nice restaurant. The cabin atmosphere is very southern. The servers are super friendly and attentive. The facilities are clean. The bathrooms are clean, too. This is classic Southern comfort food. The greens are great. The cornbread is good. They cook it in pancake fashion. Makes it very easy to put your favorite spread on it. My wife enjoyed the broasted chicken. The fried green tomatoes are a must-have! For me, the highlight of the food was the coleslaw! It was awesome!
We decided to try out this restaurant while staying in town for the night. The restaurant was cute and had the feel and look of an old log cabin. We were seated pretty quick but then the service got really slow. Not sure if they were short handed or we just got a new waitress. I ordered the County Fried Steak with corn and okra. The corn and okra were great but the steak seemed more like store bought than homemade. My wife had the French toast with eggs and bacon. Everything was good here except she thought there was too much cinnamon on the roast. I tried a piece and loved it, however I do love cinnamon. Overall the food was pretty good but I might try something different next time.
Southern, comfort food! We tried Pickled Beets, Fried Okra, Corncake, Broasted Chicken, Coleslaw, Deep fried Chicken Liver (free taste; just a piece), Collard Green, Fried Green Tomatoes. They’re all good. Nice log cabin ambiance especially in the main dining area. The back dining area was kindy dingy when we ate in the Golden Girls the 2nd time. Their desserts look delish, but we couldn’t eat more after the main course.
Service was quick and friendly with good recommendations. The chicken and dumplings were very good. Fried green tomatoes also good. I enjoyed the chicken livers. The corn bread was dry, but not bad.
