El Dorado Mexican Restaurant

This quaint spot is authentically Mexican. Everything tasted fresh and it was delicious. The owner/server was kind and friendly. We tried the beef burrito lunch and beef taco with cheese quesadilla. All items were great and I’d go back again if in the area.

Wasn’t the worst I’ve ever had and not rushing to go back anytime soon. I had the Baja Burrito, it was kind of mushy and lacked flavor. Wish they would have offered me another tray of chips.

Excellent food and even greater people!! Will always recommend this place! Been living in Callahan for years and it’s one of the few places that just get it right every time!!

Not bad for the price, the service was good too. The food was hot and the portions were good, not so much that you feel miserable after eating. I've had better but I've also had much worst so El Dorado is on the higher end of the scale and it's definitely worth a visit. They advertise a buffet on Sundays, might be worth trying.

I ordered chips & salsa, a cheese quesadilla, and nachos with chicken and cheese only. I walked in and ordered to-go at lunch time. My order was ready very quick maybe 10 mins and the lady who took my order was friendly. My problem was the food. This was my first time not liking food at a Mexican restaurant. The salsa was so spicy that it wasn’t enjoyable. This must be just a today thing, I hope. I love spicy food but this was extremely hot. Also the nachos looked terrible. Zero presentation. First the chicken was in various hunks and gobs over the chips. The chicken was mixed with lots of white onions and tomatoes. Most Mexican restaurants do this, but this was just too much. The queso in the nachos was almost clear, I’m used to it being white. The whole plate was just so unappetizing. I ended up throwing away both of those items. The chips tasted good, but I do not want to eat plain chips. The cheese quesadilla was good but there was barely any cheese in it. I would not recommend this restaurant. If the salsa was just a heavy handed fluke, then I would try something different. But bad chips and salsa is a hard no for me. That’s the main reason I love Mexican cuisine so much.
