Quaint country café in Teague, Texas. A number of neighbors recommended Cookies for soul food and yes that’s exactly what her sign says out front. I included pictures of the menu, and at first glance it appears that soul food at Cookies is regular country cooking. The food here is no different from any other country café in any other small town in Texas not bad, not great, food you could’ve made it home. However, our server who said our plates offered to bring a full serving of cabbage to my guest and never did. We asked the second server who covered for the first one and she never brought anything that was offered either now we ordered two lunch specials at $13.49 a plate that included one meat and two sides. I asked for a small salad as a side, and was given that I was not told of any extra charge. My guess never received her full serving of her second side, and although the food tasted very good, our total bill was $33 and some change. I never received a ticket so I don’t know exactly what I paid for but 1350 and 1350 is $27 so unless I paid extra for the salad and/ or tea. I’m not sure where the extra $6 charge came from. No one offered to explain either. The service was the worst I’ve experienced since I moved to this small town area. If you’re at work around Teague and want to go to Cookies and money is no object, then by all means stop in. But it’s not worth what they charge at all. Note: would the manager please respond to this review and explain to me what I paid an extra six dollars for? Please and thank you
Everything I have eaten here has been on point and amazing! Highly recommend
To go proportions are too small if a customer is going to pay $15 for a to-go order you better be damn sure you feed them and if you're feeding them small proportions they will not be back that's the only problem I see at this place that they're beginning to gouge their customers when this place first open up with this true management that ran it they fed you good this new management they have all they do is gouge the customers for food in other words they don't fill your plates
Very tasty American diner. The huge portions and tasty options will not leave your stomach empty. I had a bacon cheeseburger and it was delicious. My mother opted for the chicken fried steak sandwich which was nearly bigger than her plate. Customer service was also extremely good. Our waitress was wonderful, and very kind to us.
So under the heading of don’t judge a book by its movie lol don’t judge Cookie’s by it’s outside appearance. Back in the day she was likely a Dairy Queen but today she is a family Soul food restaurant that has amazing food. I’ve probably eaten thousands of cheeseburgers in my lifetime but Cookie’s burgers are insanely good! They have a buffet which looked and smelled great but it was a cheeseburger basket kinda day! Great meat perfectly seasoned, just the right amount of veggies and homemade fries made for quite an enjoyable meal! It’s hard to do simple food and do it consistently right but this place does food right! And hate to say it but the chocolate pound cake was to die for! If you’re gonna get off that low carb diet once in a while, go to Cookie’s! It’s so gooood!!
